Has anyone had luck in scooping babies after light off period in communitity tank? Can you share best survival rate experiences in community other than taking fish or rock out? If it is impossible and they'll become fish food then those are options. I do have rots and tank ready. TIA..

Well I have only had one sucessful batch to raise. The parents were in the DT and I collected the fry with a fry collector trap thing. All lights outs for an hour or two then setup the fry collector and turned on the led light that comes with it and they go up into it. And for the ones that would not go to it I would siphon then out and put all fry into their own little tank with the rotifers and tent the water with RG Complete. There is a lot more info you will need to read up on if you are going to try to raise the fry.

First time u might have suuccess from freaking out all the fish when everything is turned off and having a larvae trap setup. After that the fish will get smart enough to know they're food. I've used larvae traps before but have way better results pulling the pot. You want 10 babies or 200? Good luck!

That larvae trap is slick and exactly the answer i was hoping to find. You're right on mark too, I was aiming to get lucky with a dozen or so not in hundreds.

When I pulled the pot last week it made the fry's water extremely dirty. So this time around will use the larval trap and siphon if I have to.

Shake the pot clean, use new ones after a while. They're cheap. Filter your water ( brine shrimp net is enough) 30 min b4 lights out into 10 gallon from parent tank. That way temp is close and ph same. KISsilly. I raise batches weekly.

Thanks for the tips. I will give it a try providing there are enough eggs to hatch on hatch night.

Thank you for the offer Midwinter. I've got 2x 5g buckets of rots going now. So far two missed oportunities although fortunate the pair spawn at every two weeks rate. Eggs disappear between 7am to 7pm when I am at work. I am clueless of what happened but these items keep parsing my curiosity.
- ich introduced by powder blue tang. Three months ongoing battle from light to full blown outbreak. No treatement or casualties from 20+ inhabitants ranges from 2" to 6" fish.
- Eggs didn't mature correctly so parents ate them. I see parents clean rock and as on queue next day a new batch show up.
- Tank mates snatched them although parents are pretty close at guard all the time.
- New introduced cleaner wrasse? - female clownfish wants to kill this fish

So many nights of seeing silver eyes and waiting with trap for over two hours but nothing in return. Another oportunity coming up soon.
