I just lost my second power supply for my jebao DCT12000 in a couple of months. Fortunately I had purchased an additional spare.

My question... is this par for the course with Jebao? Or am I doing something wrong?

Wow, that sounds discouraging. I have a dct12000 running for about 6 weeks. No issues yet, knock on wood.

First power supply failed (and started smoking) after 5 months. The second went much quieter today after 1 month.

Hopefully your experience is better.

At a minimum you may want to consider ways to make sure the power supply is kept cool.

I have had my DC12000 running for 9 months with no issues to date. So hopefully it was just a bad batch that had issues.

I have two gyres, but I am using the jebao as my return pump.

I need to run at full power, but I have put the power supply outside my sump and I put it on top of a cpu cooler. Hopefully this helps.

Dude, this is totally uncool. This thread jinxed my dct12000. Came home today to a dead power supply. Been running for about three months. Was desperate for a return pump so I found a power supply at Frys, but it set me back 29 bucks. :-(

That sucks, but what do you expect........... it's Jeabo.
They used to make good pond pumps but not sure why and what brought quality down.
Maybe cause ATI has a stake in it and forces cheaper parts for more profit, you know that if two eat of one plate you want to go for a second!

I see a upgrade in the near future for you folks.......... Vectra L1 pump from Ecotech marine

For peace of mind I just might do that. Any idea when they are coming out?

Sorry about that Jason. It seems that these power supplies are operating beyond their heat dissipation capacity and ultimately fry. If you have a fan blowing nearby, you may want to position the power supply so it gets some of the air movement.

Have no idea but I had a call in my voice mail from Patrick and sometimes it's just to follow up or interest in a beta test.
I'm in need to replace my Red Dragon pump in the frag system as it's not strong enough to pull another frag tank so this baby is perfect for that.
I guess it will be after MACNA, they might even promote it there, in that case I can see it first hand.
