Bottom glass very big crack.
I was wondering, if it is possible to use granite.
To replace the glass.
As it is MUCH cheaper than glass.
(for saltwater)

I do have a very old (antique 50 +years)
It had a 1" thick slate bottom. (Fresh water)

I am not sure how well silicon bonds to granite. I use momentive RTV 103 to reseal tanks. or 106. I think those are the right numbers. One should be clear and one should be black. I would honestly not mess with it because 75g tanks are so common you could get one that holds water for 100$, I would think. For reference, I have a 65g tank that is posted for 125$. That is not much different than 75g. I dont think there are any fish you cannot put in a 65g that you can put in a 75g.

I wouldnt reccomend it. Granite as hard as it is it is really fragile. It is not a solid structure it has fracture and cracks all over it. That is what makes it so appealing. I would say if you have all the material and it wont cost you anything go ahead and set it up outside and try it. Leave it holding water for a few weeks and we what happens. If you don't have the material already save your money and glass and use it for a future project.

Unless you know someone who works at a glass shop and can get you a panel at cost, Finding a used 75g off craigslist will probably be cheaper. Got mine for $50 off there and it was in pretty good shape with no leaks. If you're hard set on a stone bottom for it, look into the engineered quartz based surfaces. Any reputable company that sells stone counter tops will carry them. They come in a wide variety of colors and because they use high strength resins and are formed under pressure, they hold up far better than granite or other natural stone. Plus you can go bare bottom on with them but retain the sand look if you want.

Well provided the silicone will bond to it as well as to glass, but that's a question for the company selling the materials.

I have a 75 gallon with a broken top brace. You can have it to take apart and use the bottom glass for yours. Just shoot me a PM
