I bought 15 kits so far. Does that come with a tank clean as well?

Alright, so I decided to send two tests off to test water collected from the same tank at the same time. I got the results earlier this week, and I was happy to see that the tests are pretty dang precise. There is hardly any variation between the two tests. I'm sold.

Side note, keep in mind that some parameters like chlorine are high because I was using RO water with 25tds. Also, salinity is wacky because my ATO broke and I'm dosing once a day by hand. Using the reeftopia method haha! Also, ran out of salt so wasn't doing water changes. Strontium is low, but that's easily fixed.

Nice! That's all I care about is the precision! Means they have their processes nailed down!

For $18 versus Triton at $50, I'm sold!

Thanks for hooking us up Marsh! I need to order like 5 of these!

They look pretty close to me.

Will they test for NO3?
You don't want them to test for nitrates. Proper sampling protocol for nitrates involves preserving the sample in HCL and storing/shipping the sample at/below 4 degrees Celsius with the sample being tested within 2 days to minimize bacterial interference. At least that was the protocol I used to have to stick to when conducting groundwater sampling back in my former career as an environmental scientist.

If they did do nitrates, I would highly recommend not trusting that number. [emoji4]

Ahh, maybe that’s why. Well...that makes sense. I did not know that.

I wouldn't have known that either if they didn't make me stick to those protocols everytime we sampled for nitrates. The lab invalidated my nitrate results once because the shipment came in at 6 degrees Celsius. [emoji19]

I was was trying to keep my NO3 about 5-10...but once it gets over 8 I started having diatom blooms. Take is too young.

I shoot for 5ish now. Where are you keeping yours now?

They hover right around 8-10 ppm. Just about perfect to me!

Ordered 5 test kits

Yeha I need to do the same. I used my last two to test the precision

My plan is to send one off once a month when my mortgage is paid. At $18 a pop, that’s easy to do.

I've been neglecting my tank lately . This is before I did a major water change this past weekend. Looking to do another water change before I send another. How come this test doesn't have nitrates, phosphate, ammonia or alk?

Also does marsh still sell these kits?

From my understanding of the article that I linked earlier, the machines seem to test for elements and not compounds.

And yes, we have plenty more.

My results:

I was happy with the results I got and how much quicker I got them from Triton. I even brought my Boron up just because it was low on my Triton test too.
