check out this new gadget hitting the market, Its called mindStream. It tests 10 different water parameters. its kinda pricy at $995 plus $35 a month to replace the disks but it looks very cool. it has no tubing or regents needed or calibrating, you just replace the disk once a month. i heard they had them at macna for 30% off. This is going to give the trident some competition.

Seem cool but it requires a subscription for the new monthly discs, and it’s expensive in 2 yrs you will be paying for practically another unit. It’s pretty expensive but I do like the concept! This gadget is right up my ally but no way I’m paying that much I’d rather get a trident.

Even with the trident there is a monthly fee to refill regent. With all these gadgets there is some kind of monthly fee... heck I have to pay for salt on a monthly basis just to have a tank.

Shoot u right 😂😂😂 I forgot about that. We are all paying a price either way we hack it. So really now it’s just personal preference. Do you wanna add to ur monthly bill? Does it make it worth the added monthly cost?

I don't want to derail Gregg's thread on the mindstream. Would you mind creating a new thread discussing how you are using it to manage Ca reactor?

I have a Trident and want to do something similar.

I remember reading on another forum that the science behind the Midstream testing wasn't that accurate as the trident or current testing kits. only time will tell. They also said that the refill disk were Very expensive.

Form factor wise this is AMAZING!

Did you read anything about maintenance if any on the Mindstream?

In the meanwhile i'll enjoy my Trident controlled dosing. 6 month kits are $99.95 if your able to catch them instock.

I'm very suspect on the MindStream's accuracy and overall implementation. However, I was looking for an automatic alkalinity tester as a proxy for my tank's health especially when I travel. It also offers Mg, Ca, O2, & an alkalinity measurement.

I'm the last person to try "bleeding'edge" technology, but I've ordered one. I have 45 days to test it to my satisfaction, so we'll see.

I have watched the reef2reef threads closely and several people have theirs and its working like a champ! They have tested it against all other testers.

Melsreef (sp) did a long YouTube video about his and he got his months ago as a beta tester.

I’m super excited. I ordered mine July 19 so I should be receiving the shipping notification this coming week.

Seems pretty solid. They estimated a maintenance. I remember it being 2 years but I also don’t have the best memory. You can send in or do yourself.

Read on other forum that someone contacted them and they gave a discount for late shipping and got it out the next few days. I will be contacting them on the 19th.
