The rock work looks awesome!

Did you consider gyre pumps? I was pleasantly surprised how well my maxspect gyre 280 performed in the 500/g.

We added a few fish on Friday last week.
10 chromis
3 anthias
2 clowns

2 of the anthias have died, everyone else seems fine at the moment.

We ordered three leopard wrasse from Blue Zoo, they're currently in QT and doing well. We would have added them already, but there is a bit of copper in the display.

Looking good! Can we have a look under the hood?
Better late than never, right?

One of the clownfish I bought ended up having velvet. I pulled him from the tank about 2 weeks ago, he died a couple days later. :( I've been watching the fish in the tank very closely for any signs of velvet. Thankfully no one else is showing symptoms up to this point.
Two of the leopards that we bought have died in QT due to ammonia. Totally my fault, I wasn't planning on keeping them in the QT so long. I pulled the survivor (strangely, the smallest of the three) and put him in my frag tank with another leopard. They're getting along well so far.

We're planning on adding some wrasses next. If you have experience. please let me know if there are some issues with the fish selection. The only thing my boss considers when picking fish is appearance
  • 2-3 ornate leopard wrasse
  • naoko fairy
  • whip fin fairy
  • blue head fairy
  • scotts fairy
  • six line

Check out this thread. It has a fairy wrasse compatibility chart that should help.

Thanks Frank I did consult that chart before ordering. We'll see how the 2 aggressives do in a 450g (y)
I purchased everything except the sixline and scotts(out of stock)

Added the 3 fairy wrasses a few days ago. (along with some snails and hermits) They seem to be doing well so far.
We received the ornate leopard wrasses yesterday, they were in pretty bad shape. One was DOA and the other two didn't look like they would last very long.
We ordered a pair of gobies and a red stripe pistol, they should be here early next week.

Been a while since my last post.
All 10 of the green chromis ended up dying in quick succession. No outward sings of uronema from what I could see.
The whipfin fairy wrasse developed a swim bladder issue. He lasted for a solid week swimming upside down, but then perished unfortunately.
Since then, i've added a school of 10 firefish, a storm clown, and an impulse buy of 4 black mollies. They all seem to be doing well so far.
We will be adding a blue spot jawfish later this afternoon.
I plan on putting in some coral pretty soon when we get our lights dialed in. Feel free to contact me if you have large colonies you want to part with. This tank needs colonies, not frags ;)

Sorry to hear about the difficulties Mike. Hopefully everything takes a turn for the better.
Thanks Rick, I'm not used to fish dying like this. I've had such good... let's call it luck... at my house. Office tank not so much lol

Awesome tank! I would recommend ditching those vortech covers and get some 3d printed ones. Ebay sells them for 20 bucks for a set.
