Another post on a nuvo fusion 10 reef build! This is my first real try at a reef tank. I have had some fowlr tanks in the past, but this tank will have LPS as the top priority. I have looked around this forum for a while, and finally decided to join.
Onto the tank. I set it up about 2 weeks ago. It only has a thing layer of aragonite sand just for looks, and dry rock right now. The light is the AI Prime. As of a few days ago the tank had gotten to the nitrite part of the cycle, but no nitrates yet.
A few questions that i’m pondering around right now are how in-depth to go with the filtration. Right now i have the media basket with a chemi-pure blue pack and the seachem bio matrix. I’m hoping to be able to run this tank with only weekly water changes. What would be the largest percentage water change yall would recommend for a routine change. Would 40-50% a week be too large?
For fish stocking i want to keep the fish stocking light. 1 or possibly 2 small fish. Either a clown by itself or 2 smaller fish.
Corals i’m thinking 3 or 4 large LPS corals like frogspawn, hammer, candy cane. Possibly a red cap monti at the top, and fill the rest up with mushrooms/zoas.
With this stocking and corals how well do yall think this tank would do with only large water changes? If i don’t go with a clown what are some other good nano fish that arn’t known jumpers. I know all fish can jump, but i really like the look of no top on the tank. Any other key tips or opinions are welcome!! Thanks
