Just bought a small sailfin tang when I was up near IAH and dropped into That Aquarium Place. I did see it eat at the shop - looked like frozen brine and mysis. It is in QT, but I haven't seen it eat more than a bite in 2 days. I've tried frozen brine, frozen mysis, frozen spirulina brine, frozen ocean plankton, and a leaf of nori in a clip in small amounts. There is also a 6-line wrasse exiled to the QT where he keeps the bacterial activity going, but there is a divider keeping him from the tang. He's eating well of course. I'm not panicked yet by any means, but if I wanted to try live brine, I need to figure out where to get some or order some to hatch. Anyone know if Aquazoo carries live brine? I'll call them tomorrow. And I've never been in All-About-Fish - they've been closed the 2 times I tried. I often get frozen food at Rainforest, but I don't recall seeing live brine there. Busy week, I so a trip during open hours to the west side or even Pearland would be tough before Saturday.

That’s a tough one. As long as I’ve been in the hobby stores have avoided our side of town. I heard Kevin(all about fish) had finally closed down. I usually hit the beltway and goto CityPets for stuff like food and dry goods.

I left work too late for aquazoo, but I did stop by all-about-fish. They are open. No live brine, but had some other foods I'm trying.

on the topic of league city fish stores
I have always favored the independents, and that probably isn't going to change anytime soon. And based on some previous experiences in other locations, I've never bothered to go into the LC petco until last week, but I needed something, Rainforest pets was out, and it showed up on Petco's website so I went in. I was surprised - they have a pretty decent fish selection and they look in pretty good health - purple tang, fairy wrasse, pipefish, clowns, frags, live rock, etc. One employee was training a new employee on water changing protocols. I mentioned it to the manager who indicated they'd been taking a lot of pride in that section.
ok, it's not like that area of west houston over here, but the folks at Rainforest are pretty knowledgeable and run a marine maintenance business, they just don't stock much since their store business skews to other pets (but say they will order on request), and Petco has nice fish. Both stores seemed to be in the midst of encouraging good virus protection, with RFP limiting store population, delivering outside if you want, wiping down door handles while I was in there. And if FFX is an option in nearby Santa Fe, with Fishbowl in pearland, maybe its not the marine desert here I thought it was.
I lived in Va Beach for a bit years ago, I could bike to 2 pretty nice places. That was a luxury.

I just called their number and they still have their recorded answering machine with his wife on it. They’re still showing up on Google too. They must have never closed. I’ll drive by there soon and let you guys know.

Dont forget to try Fishbowl and ADG in Pearland.

Would be interested to hear if All About Fish is open or not, every time I have been by there I was the only person in the store other than the owner.

Me too. Lol

He has a nice small store. Very nice rimless tanks. Too bad he stares at you the entire time like you’re gonna steal a coral.

I’d rather go to Petco and look around. Lol

Fishbowl is a cool store. I like how it’s one good size open room. It’s bigger than OceanLife of FJW.

Aqua zoo is a bust don’t waste your time. I usually go in there and pick out a coral to rescue from the tanks in there. Not sure if they don’t know What they are doing or they just don’t have time to maintenance the tanks. They are focused on freshwater. Good luck on the search, but I doubt you will find anyone on the south side that carries live brine.

The guy at Aqua Zoo told me he gave up on Salt. He's a FW guy. At one time he was getting some nice stuff in and his tanks were very healthy.

They are still getting fish and coral in. It’s just in terrible shape. The corals look so bad you can’t even tell what your buying. So far I’ve rescued 3 corals out of there and brought them back. They should just shut down the tanks it’s kinda sad honestly.

I like ADG. Fish Bowl gets some nice little tanks in on display. Their corals are pricy, but other than that....no complaints. One time I was filming their fish and they gave me the stink eye. He asked me what I was doing and told him just filming the fish. I never mention any LFS that I film if there's fish issues, because all of them have fish issues. It's just part of this hobby.

Yup ADG is my shop. I didn’t like my experience at fish bowl. There is a lot to it but I won’t go into all of the details here. All about fish is all but out of business so pickings are slim on the se side.
