He has been huffing and puffing for like 2 weeks now and is weak,,,, He is upright swims around now and then but lacks energy no red spots has good colour. I do not have a quaranteen tank. Is he eating? probably not. Few days ago I started to added recommended amount iodine to the water because it could possibly be flukes. I am thinking fresh water bath for 30 seconds hmmm

I’ve done freshwater baths on fangs in the past and they seemed to work well. The tang will be very dramatic and act dead. Just nudge it a little and it will act right for a few seconds then fake death again haha

Do a freshwater water dip for at least 10 minutes. I do it for 15 minutes. 30 seconds won’t do you any good.

I have lost too many with FW dips. You need to make sure the PH, ALK, and temp are the exact same. If these are off in anyway it can add additional stress to the fish, and for one already struggling it may be a death sentence for him.

You can treat the tank with Prazi. It's extremely gentle on the fish except for wrasses. Many are sensitive to it, but I have a 6 line and canary wrasse that made it through a full treatment unscathed. Treating the entire tank eliminates the stress of trying to catch or trap the fish and if one fish in your system has flukes, then all of them likely have them.

It can deplete the O2 in the water so removing the skimmer collection cup and let it run over into the sump along with increased surface agitation and adding an air pump/stone is a near must during treatment. Just shut off or remove and carbon. It can also cause a loss of appetite so adding a little garlic to the food can help with that.

I've never lost a fish to fw dips. I don't matched ph or alk. I just aerate for about 30 minutes and match temp reasonably close. Plop'm in for <= 5 minutes.

Ok after 3 attempts I had enough and just plowed through my coral reef it was not pretty but caught him I am impressed how cleaver he is with such a small brain... he remembers hiding spots and tactics to trick me and get away. Anyways I finally caught him he lay on his side the whole time while his body went from yellow to pink starting at his tail. He was in it for 4 minutes... water was not airated beforehand. Any notable change... no see what he looks like tomorrow.

Get this cus of the virus pet stores can not sell medication over here. Prazi pro is not shipped to Canada. The border is closed so I can not hop over and get it in Michigan 10 min away.... Apparently a vet sells meds for fish an hour away. I am going to do a bigger than I usually do partial water change tomorrow.

Have you tried amazon? I’m lazy/don’t get out that much. They are my go to for meds.

if you have him in a QT I would use API general cure in the qt tank.

I don’t think it’s safe for reef tank. I’m not sure if praziquantel is for that matter.

I use treatment plant water from clean LAke huron through a charcoal shower head filter. it is so clean you can see the bottom when the water is calm.... MY last Yellow Tang lasted over 12 years... I had something accidently fall into the water and seep.... IT destroyed the water quality and was too late when I noticed it floating in the water 2 years ago. He was swimming around this evening and looked a bit better than he has been... still swimming weak but not as weak. I am not used to trying to save a fish I usually just find them deceased. He is the only fish that is not well... I usually do a 10 % partial water change monthly.. tomorrow I will try 20% I add nutrafin aqua plus.

I believe the water I am using is good enough for hardy fish and corals which is what I want.... since I got rid of my crushed coral I have noticed a big improvement in water quality. Thursday morning he is basicly the same is he eating?? I think not??

I did not look I just assumed what ever was there was dead. Can flukes be seen with the naked eye? If so I might try it again I am in the process of a partial water change.
