@Humblefish
I would really love your opinion on what you think is happening to my clownfish. I've got two posts on reef to reef one about my yellow eye tang that was experiencing similar symptoms but didn't make it and one I posted this morning about my clownfish. I'm getting conflicting opinions of either bacteria or brooklynella.

They are currently being medicated with canaplex and furan-2. I was going down the formaldehyde path when I thought it was Brooklyn Ella but my LFS seems to think bacteria

That’s definitely Brook: Brooklynella – Marine Fish Diseases and Treatment

A 90 minute Rally bath and then transfer into a clean/sterile QT (to prevent reinfection) should knock it out.

You could also do a 5 minute freshwater dip, but I highly recommend dosing Seachem Metroplex every 48 hours for at least 10 days to be sure Brook is completely gone.

I don't think I can get reef rally in time, unless you know of anyone in Houston that might carry it. Metroplex arrives today. Someone suggested using ich-x because it contains formaldehyde. Also I heard that paraguard might be a good option for a bath. I can get both of these very quickly. Your thoughts?

@Humblefish thoughts on paraguard and/or ich-x as mentioned above? And to answer your post: yes, the fish did get a 4-minute RODI bath this morning and visually looked better after the bath.

I haven’t had much success using Paraguard. Ich-X might help (provide temp relief) only because it does contain a little formalin.

@Humblefish I found some formalin locally and plan on following this guide

Also reef rally is on order but it's still likely a few days away

Is it 37% Formaldehyde + 14-15% Methanol? If so, dosages are as follows for marine environments above 70°F/21°C (otherwise follow directions on the product’s label):

1) In-tank treatment: 1 milliliter (ml) per 10 gallons, or 2 drops per gallon daily in a bare aquarium.

2) 30-60 minute bath treatment: 0.6 ml per gallon, or 12 drops per gallon. Aerate vigorously and treat at this concentration for approximately 45 minutes. You can actually treat for a maximum of 60 minutes if the fish seems to be handling the bath fine, but cut it short (30 minutes) if breathing becomes too heavy.

Well, we did the dip last night and everyone seems to be doing well this morning (Out of precaution, we dipped all 3 fish, 1 Blue Hippo Tang, for 15 minutes as she was not thrilled to be in that bath, 1 clown who was showing no symptoms, for 30 min, and the 'sick' clown for 45 minutes. However, the 'sick' clown as of this morning does appear to still have some stuff starting to lift off of her. Not sure what I should be expecting, and how quickly i should be expecting.

My tenetive plan as of now, I just dosed Metroplex, and I will likely give her a RODI bath this afternoon, and likely redip in Formail Monday.

So I guess my question would be, should i expect to see it 'coming back' a little bit before it heals/goes away?

They were moved back the same tank however before dipping them, I moved them into a small 10 gallon aquarium while filled the QT tank completely with tap water, my thought being that if a freshwater dip provides temporary relief then filling the tank with tap water would possibly kill anything then after letting the tank filled with tap water for about 10 minutes I drained it and wiped all the sides down with a 9 to 1 solution of bleach let that sit for about 10 minutes, then rinse it out and then filled it again and put some prime in it to zap any residual bleach

sorry for the poor formatting and long run on sentences I'm voice dictating this

Also it should go without saying that clean salt water was put back into the QT tank

I would continue to dose Metroplex every 48 hours for 10-14 days. Additional formalin baths may be required if you see excess mucus building up or peeling off the fish.

Well, new day and shes still with us, however she is still struggling (metroplex was dosed yesterday)

Today is Formalin dip day. However I am also considering (lesser of two evils at this point) is removing at least the Blue Tang from the QT and putting her back in the DT as its been a week since they went into QT and she is showing no signs of anything. (My thought is probably better to watch her is the DT then to keep her in the QT with a known sick fish) ALSO considering the same with the other clown who is not showing symptoms as well.

On the sick fish, her 'mohawk' fin is either covered/clamp or missing. (Stock photo below) and I gave her a RODI dip yesterday and it didnt seem to help near as much as the first time. (Those are two different thoughts, as I did not take notice of the mohawk fin before the RODI bath)

Once I remove the other two fish, I am doing to downsize the QT from a 55 (with 25 gallons of water) to a 10 gallon. This will make meds easier to dose, as well as make the Formalin dip/santize process easier for me. So this afternoon the plan is formalin dip and down size, and lite dose to metro (as she gets a water change/new tank after the Formalin), any harm in me throwing in the Kanaplax and Furan-2 as well?

Wow, so Chewy delivered super quick.

@Humblefish
I got my rally pro today.

Thoughts on this? She is about to get a Formlin dip, Rally Pro has instructions for dosing the tank. Should I do both? If so, should I also, dose the Kana+Metro+Furan-2?

I know I am shot gunning here

I would just do a 1-hour bath of RubyRallyPro, then move to a different container or sterile tank, then dose the Trifecta.

@TriggerFan

Thanks for the advise, she is currently in a 45min Formalin bath.

What is the trifecta made up of?

EDIT - So after closing looking at her while in the Formalin bath, it does appear her top fin is 'missing' so, per a @Humblefish post i saw on R2R, i removed her as I considered that an 'open wound'.

I gave her a quick 4 min RODI dip before putting her back into a new, sterile QT.
