My buddy gave me this rock with a couple different corals to get my tank started. This evening I was enjoying the view and noticed this little guy. He is TINY. He messed around a bit, never came all the way out, and went right back under the rock. Sorry about the pictures. I was afraid he would go back under if I turned the white lights on. b613cff7d5c4effc920b5981988a70e6.jpg

Hard to tell from the pic. Is there a way for you to catch him?

Does your buddy have any ideas? Maybe he is suddenly missing one and could tell you what it likely is, my first thought when I saw what looks like stripes across the back is that it is maybe a Tiger Shrimp.

I would probably do more harm than good trying to catch it. I’ll try if there is a good chance with it out though.

JCSReefing is my buddy. He said it is hard to tell because of the pics. Tiger shrimp look like they make a great meal!

Looks like a big amphipod to me, I have a big one that scurries around at night.

When we set up the tank, we used about 20 gallons of his water and did see a couple things. I don’t remember what JCSReefing said they were.

infortunately I have no idea.My tank is old and has a lot of organisms over the years. If it’s a shrimp, then the only shrimp I have in my tank are peppermint shrimp which could had been in the rock when I took it out. Next time you see it, make a setting on your AI app that makes pictures easy. Then just “resume schedule” when done photographing and it will return to normal lighting schedule

I have not seen this guy since that one time. Either he is hiding better or got eaten!
