They are saying rolling blackouts and wide spread electrical power outages. Roads may be down for days because No one in this area has road clearing machinery. Dallas will be worse
6 inches of snow on 2 different days with no way of clearing the roads. May be entire tanks wiped out here because unlike summer storms you will have no way to keep your fish warm once
power is gone. Now is almost 2 late for any preparation,

Started up my generator and it ran for 15 then cut off. It hasn’t ran in a 3-4 months. Gas probably gelled up. Oh well. Gotta clean it out real quick.

Havent ran mine since the Laura scare...

Will pull it out of the shed and see if she starts up tomorrow. Wouldn't think there is a run on gas so not worried about that right now.

Picking my Jenny back up in the AM...5000 watts should be enough to run a fridge and three tanks right????

Running a fridge when it's 7 degrees outside is the least of your problems.

Your vehicle should have the right amount of coolant in it... the coolant is already formulated for sub freezing temperatures.

Great, my dad said they are mixed about 50/50 with antifreeze. He said I should be good too. Hopefully all the senior citizens can chime in. :) They been through a lot of this back in time. The last disaster I remember was back in 1994. That was a very bad ice storm that knocked out power for a week or more.

The good thing about this one is that we have some days that warm up and see some sun.

I don’t remember the year it was the 90’s but > ‘95 though. I had flown up to Newark for work for a week. When we flew out of Newark. It was clear and a balmy 34° to land at IAH in an ice storm. Power was out everywhere and our connecting flight to College Station was cancelled. We had to rent a car and crash with peoples relatives in the Spring area. We finally drove on two days later. Miserable.

Hopefully this won’t change much over the next 24 hours

Hope that this holds true for everyone's sake. Yesterday afternoon I got my generator running and filled up all my gas containers just incase.

Just started reviving my tank in November and would really prefer not to have to start over again!

Let's see..

12.5K watt dual gas generator for the house.... Check...
1K two-stroke backup generator for the reef tanks.. Check..
20 gallons of gasoline.. Check...
60 pounds of propane... Check...
Connections to hook large generator to the natural gas feed for unlimited fuel.. Check...
Backup battery system for reef tanks... Check...
24 pack of beer and 3 gallons of homemade wine.. Check...

And today of all days to have my HVAC replaced....

If power does go out I should be OK for a few days.

For everyone else. Keep warm and safe out there.
