It's a liability thing. Unless they market their systems as removing pathogens they would never recommend you use it right now. A functional RO membrane will remove pathogens. The only concern would be damaged membranes or seals. But if your TDS is reading normal then your membrane is probably fine. You'd probably want to replace the filters once the boil notice is lifted just to be safe.

"Reverse osmosis (RO) membranes are generally used to remove viruses and salt."

"These membranes are capable of removing particles (inorganics, bacteria, viruses) and dissolved compounds (salts, natural organic matter, compounds of emerging concern) very effectively."

"In principle, HPM processes (RO/NF) should provide a complete physical barrier to nanosized enteric viruses."

My OCD is telling me ‘No’. With livestock that took a hit the last thing I want to rule out is iffy RODI.

I plan on replacing all the filters and the membrane after a flush with diluted bleach when I plumb in the uv..anyone have any ideas about where to plumb in? I was thinking as the first stage but I thought I saw it being plumbed in right before (or after) the RO.

I have not ran my RODI since a week before the storm hit. I’m going to disconnect it from the source water and bleed off 50 gallons once this boil warning is lifted. Wash a few loads of clothes. Then hook it back up and call it good. ;-)

Since LFS are giving away water right now is it safe to get it from them ? If they are pumping this whole time I wouldn't think k it would be. Probably containmenated

Many of these LFS are making water outside of the boil water notice and bringing it in to the store. I would trust that their water is ok.

If you have water pressure you can make it then sterilize with bleach if you are concerned about bacteria and viruses. Then after 24hours add dechlorinator.

You could do that if your not comfortable with it. The rodi and GAC will take care of it though.

Also, just check if the LFS uses UV as part of their water making process (They should as a matter of extra layer of protection of their investments).

the boil notice for houston has been lifted.

Or boil it for 2 minutes
