My apartments just made me sign a pet screening addendum which limits me to a 24/G tank.

They enter my apartment 2-3x a year. I haven’t been told anything in the past, but I think this time they would tell me to take it down, fine me, and possibly evict me.

This sucks. So much for the build. :(

I’m thinking about putting it in the garage. I’ll need a chiller, more heaters for winter, etc.

The bad thing is I don’t have a water source there. It’s detached.
Depending on where the closest water outlet is, you should be able to plumb it to some piping and "create" a faucet close to the garage. It could be the washer cold water tap or an outside spigot... Same idea as attaching a python to the sink faucet but meant to stay in place... Until you move, then easily detachable.

Here’s a few good things:
I have good credit. 700’s
My debt to income ratio is low.
I’ve been employed with this current hospital for 4 years.

Bad things:
I have very little money in savings due to several medical bills these last 5 years.

No way to get 5-10% down.

Shoot I wish. If they caught me getting water from around the corner of the building it would be an issue. My apartment is 20 yards from my garage.

I thought about doing water changes at night and pumping water to a bulk storage reservoir I could put in the back of my truck. Then pump to it with 60’ of hose at night. Then drive it to the garage for water changes. Would only need to do it 2x a month.

This isn't the time for a snap decision. Take a breath, talk to Steve's wife, assess the garage situation, and try not to stress out. At least you don't have a tank full of fish and coral to worry about

True that. May lease is up 5/20. So that’s a good thing, but makes me stressed because now I feel like I need to move.

Do you pay your own water bill? If so, there should be no issue with diverting it to the garage as long as you don't make permanent changes

Since you've decided not to risk having an "illegal" tank, talk to the property manager... Maybe they'll help you get the garage option to work
