Yea they are native to the English Isles down to the Mediterranean. They are hitchhiker invasives to Florida. Just don’t turn him loose in Texas. They can live up to 3 years and reach just shy of 4”.

4”?! I caught 7 all around the same size and I believe this is my only survivor. He’s the only one I ever see, there may be others hiding in my rocks but as far as I know I’ve only got the 1. He’s doing well, not harmful to corals, and unresponsive to direct feeding. So I don’t know what he’s eating in there but it’s not coming from me. I spot feed the sexy shrimp reefroids but he didn’t show any interest.

I moved from Galveston Island to Dickinson about a month ago. Any recommendations as to where I can go to collect some "cleaner crew" critters for my 12 gallon reef?

Does anybody know what fish this is? I thought it was a sergeant major damsel but I’m not sure it looks like something else. 464f6c2d6bf051c384fadf6002175718.jpg

Where was it caught?

Definitely not a Sargent Major.

I caught it at Surfside beach. I caught 5 of those. I was also thinking that they weren’t sergeant majors because I also caught sergeant majors that day and the 2 look completely different.

Here’s another pic. It looks more like the one at the top that’s yellowish. 9331e93c1a3bbef7153c883773afc491.jpg

If I was looking at it in person, I could probably tell you.

Best guess is its a juvenile bermuda chub, which is a more offshore species but we do get babies close to shore in the summer months.
