Just got my first one (Copper HR) and this is totally my first experience with Hanna checkers.

What a horrible design! How have they been around for so long without basic updates / fixes? I design lots of items, nothing for consumers outside of 3D Printers but the design of these checkers is a joke!

Battery Lid - Has standard header pins connected to this... if you pull it out at an angle it can easily bend them. It also doesn't just come out easily, I had to use a small pick to pull it out.
Packets - Why are these not the width of the bottle mouths? How do you know you are really getting all the powder out?
Bottles - They are like the perfect width so that the tension of water can actually prevent water from coming out.
Lid - Half the time I think I need to press a button, the other half I just break it open. Works good enough, but I figure after a while

I mean it seems to work great, I assume I am getting all the reagent's out of the little packets, but it does seem to work fine... or maybe it's reading off. Hard to know for sure.

Just venting because I figured something this expensive and been in the market for this long should be better.

If you want to feel like a full on scientist, snag a Hanna Nitrate LR test kit. Talk about a process!

Or like when I didn't get all the foil off the alkalinity reagent, saw it hanging on and forgot it was attached, pulled it and spilt all of it, hadn't even done a test. A few f bombs might have been yelled. Might have gone scanners and have my head explode if I got to last step on a nitrate test and spilled it

Ok so I got my gift card (to marine depot) and want to snag a new Hanna checker.

What do you recommend? Calc or Alk

I’m running TM Balling Method so it’s controlled more by alk levels, so that’s the one I’m leaning towards. Is it a pain of a test?

It's 10 ml water insert then 1 ml of reagent insert and done. Easy peasy
