While you're waiting for the micro tank to cycle, please take some pictures of the discus tank and share them on the freshwater section of this forum. I have kept and bred freshwater angels, but I never quite got up the nerve to try discus.

I actually combined the 2, my wife wanted angels and I wanted melons and blue diamonds
the Angel fish were tiny , as were the discus, this tank is now going on 3 years now...and my discus have grown ,as have the angels , I only get some times squabbles when the angels put eggs and they get territorial but tank is big enough , heck they even survived the big freeze (harrowing how i kep the fish alive though...but that is for when we meet with a beer to tell :) )

From the main Forums section, go to "General Interest Forums", and at the bottom is one called "Other Aquatic Environments".

That's a very nice tank. Do you use RODI water, and if so, do you use something to add some minerals back?

I basically have a 20 % change every other week, and I run my water out of tap into a large holding bucket, I put in minerals and nutrients and let it aereate for 24 hrs before putting it in the tank (old school) :) ...
Also my planted tank literraly has soil for plans in the bottom part (yes makes the tank VERY dirty on upstart ) but is amazing in the long run.

Ok quick update on the micro tank, cleaned up nicely , put in 2 fish to get the cycles going...added a auto top off pump so I am always at max , will for now not do water change until the current water is auto topped off, then I will siphon the same amount and put water change of 20% in in about 3 /4 weeks time. I am doing panned shot of my planed and my micro (just comboing)
