I recently had two of my angelfish start breeding and laying eggs! I let them lay 2 clutches before I decided to collect the third batch after they had developed eyes but before they hatched. They’re now free swimming on baby brine and first bites. Anybody have any ideas on what the coloration will look like? Super red female x panda male

Back when I was breeding angelfish, there weren't the many colorful varieties there are today. I think I got more or less the classic Mendelian mix of about 25% like the mother, 25% like the father, and 50% some combination of the two.

You should get some pretty spectacular fish out of that combination. Please keep us posted.

The mother cost me $45 (360 Aquatics up in Katy, absolutely breathtaking freshwater only store I love it!!) so if I end up with 25% like her I will be very happy! There’s probably around 30-40 babies that have survived so far

STUDY girl cause breeding will consume you...
You can say that again… might have gold rams and German blues on the way soon. Longfin blue eyed golden plecos are getting up to size and so are the Queen Arabesque. I also have several more angels in the tank that look like they might be pairing off but they are all orange koi
