Won’t the RODI unit eliminate phosphates entering through my tap water? My nitrates are at the floor- I’ve actually be struggling to raise them for my zoa’s. I have a sea hare who is currently combatting the algae menace, but after a couple of weeks I haven’t seen a major reduction despite him...
Hello all- I keep a variety of coral from LPS to SPS and have on treated tap water for quite awhile. Seeing the deals on amazon, I went ahead and bought an RODI unit. I’ve always had trouble with hair algae and high phosphates. Are things in my tanks really about to improve significantly with this?
These bulbs are most certainly older. I’ll have to get some fresh ones and throw a par meter down, I’ll take before and after replacement measurements.
That’s crazy! What brand were you using??
I will definitely be looking at some different T5 combos. The shimmer from the LED’s is something I love, but with the correct T5’s maybe I could get the “violet” color I like on the tank without LED’s and just have no shimmer.
That’s a great point...
I think that’s my issue, I’m having some growth issues. The only coral that seems to be thriving are those in frag racks higher up in the tank. I’ve been reading more in the black box’s and I believe you may be correct about them being the most economical option
The T5 fixture itself actually has 4 bulbs, 48 in long. I was getting a little too much light with all 4 running and the Aqua Knights as well. Each T5 Acintic says 54w though the bulbs themselves are quite old.
Would running the 4 T5’s be better than the LED’s? I’ve always been under the...
I've currently got 2 Aqua Knights along with 2 T5's running above my 60 gal. I'm looking to reduce how much I've got plugged in and the fixture footprint, but I'm just not willing to shell out the 200+ for black box's. Are there any cheaper LED solutions for a 60 gal? Not keeping SPS, just a...
This was a fun project, but the Nina is no more. My love for the hammer garden has outgrown the tank, and we’ve upgraded to a 4.4 gal. The Pina’s own build thread will start soon.
We’ve had a large coral stocking and added a UV light to run for a couple of hours a day. The tank is looking beautiful, out inhabitants are happy- and I’m already eyeing an upgrade to a 4.14 for more space. My 60gal display isn’t currently plumbed in to this system, but running multiple nano’s...
I’m thinking I’ll add one or two wall hammers before adding more. These 3 don’t have the greatest space for their own territories yet, but I think adding another Pederson shrimp to compliment the first isn’t a bad idea. There was some aggression the first day but since then the 3 have been very...
I actually got all of the livestock including the Pederson’s shrimp from the one and only BB Fish and Pet. Nam and everybody there have been incredibly helpful ever since I entered the hobby. I believe they’ll order some for you as well- can PM what I paid!
