My 300 to 294 build and fish room

I got it last August. It's hard to say just how much it has grown since then, because some days it looks bigger than others, but it never used to be this big. I should have measured the skeleton when I got it.

I'd say "long-tentacled plate coral" is an appropriate name for this critter. It's about as big as a dessert plate now - maybe in a few years I will take the same picture with a dinner plate.

What do you wanna learn about

Nah, not interested - I already know everything. ha ha DIY projects could be interesting. Also how to get better pictures of fish and corals, and enhance them on the computer so they look better but not fake. As someone who has had an Apex on his tank for almost 6 years and never really set it...

My 300 to 294 build and fish room

Not really. When a fish dies in that tank, I always wonder if it got stung by the anemones, but the BTAs don't really have that much of a sting, and I couldn't see any signs of wounds. I never saw anyone harass him, even when I first put him in, which is rare with that extra-large maroon clown...

My 300 to 294 build and fish room

A very sad day - found the Moorish idol dead this afternoon. He looked great yesterday, so no idea what happened. He did appear a lot thinner when dead than he did when he was alive, but he ate well, and I would think if he starved, there would be some period of time when he was weak, not go...

That could have ended badly - glad it didn't.

My 300 to 294 build and fish room

The person I got him from had him for about a year by himself, so hopefully he will continue to do well. Apparently he got his dorsal fin caught on something, because he looks more like the first pictures again, but seems to be doing very well.

    Elegance and Anemone cohabitating?

I have never seen anything good come from an anemone touching a coral, so I would try to give them a little more separation.

    Want to Buy Anemone

LOL! It's not a real name in the trade, although it was mentioned in "Coral" magazine, so if it's in print, it must be real. I just called my anemones that as a joke, and the name stuck. They are the greenish ones with the bright orange/pink tips. The others are the more common rainbow ones.

    Want to Buy Anemone

I'm not sure if the size of a BTA is so much dependent on the variety, or more the tank it's in and the care it's given. My Intergalactic Spaghetti anemones got up to 14" in my 300g reef tank, but nowhere near that in my 150g nem tank. Anyway, if you want a typical rainbow BTA, and free is in...

My 300 to 294 build and fish room

It's crazy how much longer his dorsal fin is after one week. The new part isn't stiff like the rest of the fin, which makes me a little worried that it isn't new growth but a piece of it that tore loose and is dragging behind. But I can't see any signs of damage to the rest of the fin...

Should have cleaned the outside of the glass first, but too excited about my newest addition.

    What is this mushroom doing?

It has not done it again, and it still looks healthy and normal.

    What is this mushroom doing?

I'm going with number 2 here, although I don't know what it's trying to eat. There aren't other corals near it other than one of the same kind. I don't think it's stressed or dying because today it looks perfectly normal and healthy. It's odd that in over 12 years of keeping mushrooms, this is...

    What is this mushroom doing?

I have never seen one do this before. It looks kind of like the sweeper tentacles that some corals have, but I didn't think mushrooms have those. It doesn't appear to be dying, because it looks totally normal today. If it was sweepers, I would think this one would be doing it, since it is...
