I will look into the Amquel. I have been doing water changes and it has helped lower it. I have been a little worried about taking out too much and causing it to cycle again. Thanks. This is really my first attempt at doing a QT for 30 days. I'm scared to death of ammonia, but the fish all...
I’m fighting a little bit of ammonia in my 15 gallon QT. Very basic setup with HOB filter. Would it hurt to hang a bag of purit directly in the tank? Water changes are moving it in the right direction, but I’m worried it’s not fast enough. I would also like it as a safety net
I have a 75g that currently has one clown, one flameback angel, and one chromis. I have lost a few fish over the last year or so, for a variety of reasons, and would like to add some now. I am wondering if adding a couple of small clownfish would create problems with the existing clown. He is...
UPDATE .
The Purit media has been in a bag in the sump for almost 3 weeks. There is a noticeable difference in the amount of diatoms/algae on the sand. It is not completely gone, but it is probably at 25-30% of what it was prior to adding the Purit. I'm really wishing I had taken some...
Test kit arrived today. Water from display shows less than 1. Looks like it is between 0.25 and 0.50. I tested RODI water and it is 0.03. Those numbers are pretty good I think, which is disappointing because that means i still don’t know what’s causing my diatoms/algae
I put the bag of purit...
My situation sounds similar. I have never been able to keep favia or acans alive. The other coral seems ok, and I even have some sps that is doing pretty good. My main stressor is the diatoms/brown algae on the sand. It makes the tank look filthy, although all the parameters are good...
I'm not going to put it in until my test kit arrives. Once I can test the water, I am going to put a bag of Purit in next to a bag of carbon. I will report back any results.
I recently ordered some Purit in hopes of reducing silicates in my reef tank. Every other parameter is good, and I continue to have diatoms/brown algae. Silicates are about the only other thing I know that could cause the diatoms/algae. I also ordered a Silicate test kit, but it has yet to...
Happy Friday. I have not seen my goby in over a month. I thought he may have died, and began testing for ammonia and nitrite regularly. Nothing showing on those tests, and nitrates have remained at 2 throughout. Any thoughts?
