Yeah last night when I got home I tried feeding him first. Not 100% sure if he ate or not, he def was bitting it and spitting it back in.

After that I gave him the acriflavine bath for the 90 minutes. He seemed to handle it pretty well, kind of like his first baths of formalin and methylene blue.

Tried feeding him this morning and he wasn't interested in eating. He certainly looks a lot better, he's a bit more active in his swimming.

Good thing he’s a PBT...had it been a Regal tang the CP would kill him on about the 4th day.

Blue Regal tangs and Wrasse’s don’t tolerate CP. It kills them.

Glad to hear he’s doing much better. Just keep him on the CP. What dose did you use?

Daily update...

He's looking good. I noticed ammonia was creeping up this morning so I did a 50% water change (with more CP) and added a small dose of Prime. Should I be dosing prime daily to keep the ammonia down? Or should I wait for a small increase and then do a 50% water change?

He's still not eating as far as I can tell. I went up to Oceanlife to pick up some live brine and when I tossed some in he swam up to them, picked at a few but I couldn't tell for sure if he ate them or not. I also tried some mysis soaked in garlic but that didn't do anything.

He looks 100% better than a few days ago though.

From what I read, Chloroquine Phosphate requires RX to buy. Will I able to talk to my vet from Petsmart when I take my dog in for checkup to write me a RX? I want to stock for further treatment. Thanks

I think it really comes down to the vet. Some are willing some aren't, but most would make you bring the "sick" fish. As we all know by the time you get a sick fish you really don't have time to see a vet, order the medicine, and get it going. Another thought is you could go to Petsmart and pick a clearly diseased fish and try and say you are buying that fish and that way you don't have to acclimate it, and then bring it back to a vet, etc. Just less stress on the fish then. No idea if that'll work but might be worth a shot if you are already seeing the vet?

LOL at buying a sick fish. :). Thanks for the input
Let's be honest... wherever you buy a fish from no matter how healthy they look they probably have some diseases that'll likely take over as soon as they get out of the store (which is probably running a therapeutic level of copper).

Daily update...

He's looking good much more active swimming. I fed him some live brine today and I know for a fact he ate a few of them. Ammonia is once again spiking so I do a 50% water change along with added a little bit more prime. I tried adding prime only (4ml (double dose)) and it didn't seem to affect the ammonia at all based on my API test.

Couldn't get any good pics of him before work, but grabbed this video... (sorry about the cat crying... he wanted treats): https://photos.app.goo.gl/StB3Sn1CsNryH2SZA

Do not dose prime. It will kill the fish. It will make your copper level toxic. Just control with water changes and make sure to get the water at therapeutic that you’re changing.

After 10 days of therapeutic CP, transfer him to a sterile non-medicated tank for observation. During this period feed Metroplex soaked food to clear any internal issues and you can run liquid Praziquantel as well. Won’t hurt anything. This will give him the best chance of survival and you should have a very healthy fish entering your display after this observation period.

Yup, he's eating well now. I am still on brine shrimp, but back on frozen ones. I'm soaking them in metro / focus and he's eating them up well. Going to try mysis tomorrow night.

I am still fighting the ammonia though. Doing about a 50% (5g) water change daily to keep it down. Also dosing prime a little but I better understand how it controls ammonia (it basically bonds to it for 24-48 hours, then the ammonia comes back).

Just keep doing water changes and redose.

What size tank is he in? Hard to believe you’re fighting it that much with the one tang. He must be bigger than he looks. Which test are you using?
