So I was doing some research today, and it appears that bayer sold off the product we were using to help them merge with another large company, so as not to create a monopoly. The new brand seems to be exactly the same, right down to the ingredients. A handful of folks on another forum are saying they use it with no problems, but I'm curious if anyone here has tried it?

Here's the one I'm referring to. I compared the ingredients to my old bottle of bayer and they're the same.

Interesting. I was not aware of them making the change. I would expect them to be the same but the devil is in the details and no telling how small the detail is that really matters. Thanks for the ends up and keep us posted on any information you find. I will have to see what I can find.

The original post is the new bottle. The old was identical, except it said "Bayer" where this one says "BioAdvanced".

Here's the old bottle.

Cody, I bought a new bottle about 6 months ago. No issues.
Thanks for the input. That's what I was looking for. I'm always hesitant to trust what I read on the national forums.

About a yr ago I bought a bottle with different ingredients. Didn't hurt the corals but wiped out most my fish within 30 minutes. It is importaant
to check the ingredients even if the bottle looks the same.

Notes for first-time users:

a) How much to use? (Product to Water ratio)
b) Only use with SPS (No softies)
c) Preferably, remove coral from frag plug before the dip and use a new plug. (Dip will not kill pest eggs and plugs are a good place for those eggs)

i read a few stories of there being a change to the ingredients that was causing massive issues for people who had been using Bayer as a dip and since nothing changed on the outside, were caught off guard. let me see what i can track down.

this thread clarifies it a little

Cody...here it is. I’ve dipped several Acro’s without any issues at all. Apparently I didn’t realize the label had changed although I do remember this coming up about a year ago that the formula had changed or something like that and from what I remember is that people were saying it was only the label and not the product itself.

do you have a picture of the backside? i believe the difference is in the ingredients. the one with Cyfluthrin is no good. It needs to be the Beta-Cyfluthrin and Imidaclobrid such as @Cody has (and you must have as well) that appears to work well.

Yeah, I just noticed they BOTH say soil and turf!!!

This is not good. You have to DEFINITELY make sure you have the right active ingredients!

Sorry for bringing this topic back. I was watching a nice video from TopShelf Aquatics about dipping and sealing corals during QT.
Something that got my attention is that the use of Bayer / BioAdvanced Insect Killer is used mostly in SPS, but not all SPS.
It also not used for many LPS/Softies.

Is there an overall consensus about which type of SPS or other corals should not be dipped in it? Which with ReVive, Coral RX Pro?
