Do you think a pygmy cherub angel would munch on zoas, mushrooms, and hammers?

I’ve never kept one so I couldn’t say but based on their size... at worst I think they’ll just nip the zoas and keep them more closed than normal if they do bother anything at all.

Awesome! I wonder for a new tank if trying to get the Alk that high is a better option than the "usual" 7.5 - 8.0 I see most people use.
This being said, everyone I heard that uses higher Alk has awesome coral.

I use RedSea Coral Pro, which is on the high side and should be easier to keep higher Alk. However, I have seen many Indo acropora that vendors recommend 7.5

Thoughts?

If you’re adding acros and stocking your tank... especially from wild/mari sources... stick with 7.5-8 dKh range. Less shock to new pieces... especially the ones I see coming in from Indo with 5-6dKh in the bag. Once you’ve mostly stocked, give 9 dKh a try and see how your tank likes it. You’ll get slightly faster growth.

I have to say it never occured to me to check the dkh of the water that new pieces arrive in. I check SG, Temp Acclimate, dip and go. I will have to start doing that.

Hey Deanna! I only started doing it with acros since they are a bit sensitive to alk swings in my experience. But typically whoever I buy acros from has a good idea of where their alk level is (kind of a prerequisite to keeping them alive most of the time) so I just usually ask.

Wow! I can't decide which I admire most - your tank or your photography skills.

Thanks bud! I have a whole bunch of fun with photography these days. Such a great associative hobby to reefing. I didn’t even own a DSLR until just two years ago. If I can do it, anybody can.
