I do have some pics. Unfortunately right now they are on photobucket and photobucket is being stupid. Will see if I can find them elsewhere.

Sorry it’s been a while since I last post. With the holidays I haven’t made much progress but have started accumulating parts. I did receive the baffle kit for my 75 gallon sump but not too happy with the baffles. Thinking about going another route but need some input.
Having a hard time deciding which way to go. Below are the two styles I’m thinking about. Sorry about the crappy drawings my computer is acting up and as soon as I get it fixed I’ll draw this up in solid works or auto cad.

#1 below is Triton like with drain and fuge in one compartment and the skimmer and returns separate.

#2 belowhas the drain and skimmer in one compartment and the fuge and returns as seperate. With the fuge being fed from the manifold to regulate flow.

Not sure if I’m going to run filter socks. Leaning more towards no because of pod populations.

Which would you run and why? 9816AD62-889C-47BB-9DDF-9C94F8208EB5.jpeg

Time to resurrect this thread. To fill everyone in I sold the old 180 earlier this year to a friend. At that time I decided to just work on my 72 bowfront for a while and tried to start growing SPS. The SPS were surviving until about March of this year when my daughter dumped a whole new jar of reef roids in the sump while I was on a business trip. The massive nutrient spike killed almost everything except my toadstool, mushroom, GSP and lots of GHA. AA355CDE-9677-4DF1-AB96-8C7951BD052F.jpeg

Flash forward to August and I placed an order for a Planet 180 gallon with external overflow from a new LFS here in the NW side of town. At that time I decided I wanted to build my own metal stand and case it in wood. The metal stand was built out of 1-1/2”X0.125 and 1-1/2”x3” A36 Carbon Steel. 1A3AB1D4-EF2B-4DD7-9CFB-4B72AD9F4246.jpeg 1A9B302F-0125-411B-A231-D5F3A71B80DA.jpeg 236AC476-AF8D-44B4-A24F-AFB6BABBFA93.jpeg DE83874A-6B85-4070-978D-3F31E6673CE1.jpeg

Thank you @TriggerFan for your input on my stand coating question. After a lot of research I decide to coat the metal stand in POR-15. I thought about bed liner, powder coating, and flex seal but since the three panels for the stand are magnetically attached I wanted to keep the coating thickness to a minimum but still have the protection from the saltwater and decided to go with POR-15 0FEDD82D-D7C0-4ECF-9B70-0F669DCDBD22.jpeg 2C55B326-0678-4479-80CB-D1ED9CDFBD51.jpeg 3E1C9B51-EBE7-4C80-9EC1-E33F4FE54100.jpeg

As for the stand my wife wanted that shabby chic look so I went with Varathane Carbon Gray semi-transparent stain and matte polyurethane. To protect the wood on the wet side of the stand and canopy I went with white flex seal.

Love the build, it's a good planned build. Little late to raise the bottom trim around the tank's bottom plastic, I would put something to hide the bottom plastic just like the top is hidden under the canopy, maybe 1/4 round trim...

Thank you. I will be placing some trim around the tank frame but want to get it in the house first since my garage has a little slope and since the panels are magnetically attached there will be some slight height differences there.
