Does anyone have some suggestion on how to make this happen? I wanted a video where they used a kitchen strainer to hold the nem and the clowns... maybe there is a better way??

I saw a video on MelevsReef where he used a PVC to drop the clowns. Never tried it, but I’ve heard it works.

Yeah he used an acrylic tube. I may just get some 2" PVC and scare the crap out of them. Don't have access to acrylic tubing...

I propped my phone against the tank for 10 hours playing a vid of clowns hosting in a loop. They began hosting a Duncan (NOT MY ACTUAL ANEMONE that I lovingly bought for them) the same day

I put my nems in a Plastic water garden basket from Home Depot and stick the clowns in till they start interacting with the nems. They have no choice at this point. $2-3.

I noticed my clowns pick brine shrimp out of my duncans when I feed them so I've been purposely dropping brine shrimp into the nem hoping the clowns go after them and swim into the nem. No luck yet but I feel like it'll happen eventually. If it doesn't work I'm going to try the video method before the forced approach.

Honestly, I'd just wait. Most figure it out eventually, but some never do. There's no harm to the fish or the nem if it never happens. And, while they do it less often now, my clowns who after almost a year figured out the nem, still try to host in my candycanes. Point being that even if your goal is to divert their attention from another coral, they may still irritate their current "host"

I have had success with printing out pictures of similar looking clownfish swimming in an anemone scaled to the same size of the real clownfish and taping to the pictures to the side of the glass. I didn't cover the entire tank or anything just 2 or 3 pictures. That was a LONG time ago but if I remember right it only took a few days before my clown bonded.

I had macho clowns and RBT anemones. Lady at the LFS said to wait, it could take a day it could take years, hell they could never host. I waited and it took 7 months but they finally hosted the anemone. Give it time they will host.

It really depends on where the nem is. You may be able to create a barrier to contain them close to the nem so they will start hosting in it. What worked for me when the nem was attached to the rockwork I was able to add a new pair of clowns to the tank and then use a smallish net and bend the wire so it formed a cage around the nem and left it there for a couple days. One figured it out within about 30 min. The other was not as enthusiastic about it and ended up moving to the other side of the tank. Then later when that one tried to go to the nem to be with the other clown, the hosting one got very territorial and would not let it get close.

So I pulled the nem out when it went on walk-about and got a completely different one. It and both clowns are in a small basket clipped to the wall of my sump. They'll probably stay there until I get my Nuvo20 up in a few weeks.
