So I picked up my first goni the other day & need a little help. The first few days it was out & extended & happy.... then it pulled in and hasn't come back out. It's still very bright but just isn't extending.

Do they need a lot of flow? I have it in a fairly low flow tank. Also, do they like high or low light?

Everything else in the tank is fine, all params are fine.

thx

I’ve struggled with mine as well. I thought it was either too high PO4, NO3 or possibly Alk going up with water changes. All LPS at the moment so not a lot of Alk consumption. I’ve been dripping LaCL and using auto water change to lower nitrates. Started dosing acid in saltwater mixing container to bring Alk back down through same water changes.

Alk is solid around 8, I have a chalice, some shrooms, numerous nems & some zoas that are all fine. Not sure whats up. Only thing I could think of was low flow.... due to the shrooms in the tank.

I keep mine in fairly low flow as well and have no issues. Phosphate 0.1. Nitrate 1. Alk 9. Cal 400. Magnesium 1600. Par 150. I feed weekly at the most powdered coral food. Not sure what my secret is but it's maybe 5x bigger than I bought it at 8 months ago

I have two now. Nitrates are between 5-10 and phos is .32-.39 depending on how much reef roids. AlK is solid 9/ ph8.0-8.2 cal 450 they are happy as far as I can tell. I broadcast reef roids Live Phyto I don’t ever see them interact with feeding, everything else in the tank responds.
