Curious what everyone keeps their feed temperature at or aim to. I’ve always kept mine a little higher, but have heard some lower numbers recently. Thanks in advance.

Low 79.1. High around 79.6. I used to run Closer to 78 but I raised it looking for increased SPS growth. That is, assuming you have no deepwater/temperate water fish.

I keep mine at 78. But because of my 2 tangs that are ick magnets I often have it over 80. I have to take extra care of my yellow tang now. The price of them is just going higher and higher.

I have my temp set at 80 mainly because my heater is in my sump. By the time the water hits my DT and because of the amount of surface water vs. how shallow my tank is I actually lose about 2° of heat so my DT sits comfortably at 78.....except for this week. I put a second heater in my DT and raised my sump heater up and managed to hold at about 74.

My 125 runs between 79 and 80 with two 200w heaters. This last week I threw in my extra 300w that stays on permanently and it was running between 77 and 81 depending on how cold the house got.

Do you have a second temperature probe to verify you have a two degree variance? I have been tempted to buy the Neptune kit to add that second temp probe but never have.

When this is all over, I would like to come and pick up some acan frags from you.
You have some of the most spectacular specimens around and I'm glad your tank survived.

With my tank being outside this has been a huge challenge for me. Last year I noticed that when I was the 81-82 range my corals were opening much more than down in the 77-79 range
Assuming all went well?

Thanks you so much. I love my acans. Honestly never fragged them. What saved my tank was that I woke up when the electricity went off. Battery backup lasted one hour. Had time to get extension cord out and plug in the 3 receiver. Ran it to my truck (new style with plug outlet inside it) and opened the garage manually. Ran truck from 3am to 3pm the next day when my power came back on. Cranked up the heaters to like 88 since the ambient temp was so low they were going to have to work way harder to keep up..

That sounds like some quick thinking. I made it too but only by a hair. If the power had kept going out after yesterday everything would have been toast.
I guess you need a saw to frag acans?

Yes and I’ve had one just scared and grew them from frags so little sentimental lol
