Welp here we go. I recently lost my 150g tank via a leak. I decided to go with a WaterBox 220.6.

I am looking forward to the clean look of the newer generation of rimless, modern tanks. Of course if you woulda asked me this question a month ago I would’ve told you custom tank built to your specs is the way to go.

When my tank blew out, I’m ngl I panicked a bit. I mean we all would but in retrospect I think I could come up with temporary housing here at my house rather than pushing everything off on a very kind lfs. I know there’s already been significant loses.

New Equipment.

It’s ironic that the day after the leak I got in a new return pump and a Aquarium Engineering Ca reactor I won on EBay recently. The rx is a stacked 6” ACR, sort of an impulse buy. Put my bid in thinking I’d never win it.

I’m moving from Vectra on my return pump to Sicce 9.0. The warranty and reputation was big for me on Sicce. I lost two M1 Vectra in pretty short order earlier this year.

My old tank basically was over kill on lighting. Four gen 4 XR30 Radions on a four foot tank(lol). So I’m going to just slide these into one of the Aquatic Life 61” hybrid t5/led fixtures. Planning on hanging the fixture for now, I think it’s the cleanest option.

Random thoughts.

Little apprehensive for the tank unboxing. Lots of things to put together. Not really my strong suit. Also have to figure out how to get this thing on the stand. Little concerned about how my existing gear will work in the new sump as well. I love my Bubble King but it takes up a lot of space.

Questions, comments or advice is welcome. I’ll update with pictures of the pallet later today.

When they lifted mine for me (remember I'm older, partially senile, part bat crap crazy) somewhere in couple of hundo range maybe a bit more. I would have have go back a year to find the exact price.
"older, partially senile, part bat crap crazy"... good description of several of us (myself included 😁)

Drilling my tank (since it was low) put me in the bed for 2 days. I was sore everywhere. I don’t remember this happening last few builds. Lol

Time to assemble that thing! Remember if you want to do your own plumbing, BRS sells metric conversions that will hook up to the pipes coming off the overflow box.

Stand is done minus fiddling with the hinges. That was a solid four, five hours. Not overly difficult just painstaking repetition. Could not have done it without the mrs, she’s been less than enthused about my latest return to the hobby(for good reason really). Couldn’t have done it without her today.

I’m gonna plead a little ignorance about what different delivery options mean, probably lack of reading the print, much less fine print. I paid an extra $99 for what I hoped might get it in the front door. Not so much.

The FedEx guy was a cool dude and worked with me as much as one dude with a hydraulic lift could be expected to. We got it up to my front porch and brought the sump and stand boxes inside. You guessed it, the tank is still outside for now. It’s tarped and rdy for showers this weekend.

Impressed with the quality of everything so far, keep in mind this is my first new tank in a while. Recessed hinges need fixing tomorrow and then maybe sump in on Sunday. No plumbing to fiddle everything is included.

I’ll cover it tomorrow.

It certainly wasn’t cheap but from what I’ve seen so far I’m impressed with WaterBox.
