Yes. I like the rubberized parts and god bless them for permanently attaching the rubber feet. It’s pretty quiet for a 3k pump. Not as quiet as my BK but for sure more quiet than the Sicce.

Controller is decent. Some of the fittings here aren’t the best but nothing you’d miss. It does some of the fancy flow patterns that are kind of lost on me.

The warranty is great but I’m taking it with a grain of salt till I see how long they are around. There just aren’t a lot of info or users stateside anyway (among the reefing community anyway).

I’m happy with it.

So you bought the big dog. 3K that must be a massive pump!

Today’s update is a bummer. I’d like to say first of all David at Galactic was incredibly kind to me throughout all of this. I called him at 8am on the Sunday that everything went to crap and he did all he could to help.

Really emphasizes the need to have a relationship with your lfs. Both tank failures I’ve gone through would’ve been infinitely worse without help.

The bummer part is my loses have been severe. Three fish of more than a dozen are left swimming. Corals really about the same. Torches 3/7 sps 5/26 I could go on. I’ve enjoyed acquiring all the snazzy gear but now I’ve circled back to starting over with livestock and it’s....just....a bummer

Anyhoo.

To do things for the week include trying to figure out an aquascape of some sort.

Finish second controller board.

Oh here’s a full tank shot with all lights on. Lights up high for pic 75%, considering more blue in the t5’s

Looking good! Consider taking a little off the top so some of the Acro’s have a little room to grow before they breach the surface. That will also allow you to get better flow throughout the tank. (y) Win Win.

Yea I just wanted to get an idea of what I’m working with. One thing I really want to pull off is an aquascape. I really like live rock and I really like some of the bonsai aquascaping. I’ve got some Marco here that I’m going to play around with.

I’ve got flow....too much flow atm. I’m not a big fan of these vca random flow nozzles for some reason. I like my very controllable gyre/mp40 combo.

Small update. Second and final control board in place. I gotta admit the adaptive reef stuff is nice especially for non wood working folks.

I got them on sale for around $120 and it’s money well spent. Bad pic I know.

Next hurdle is make up system and honestly it aggravates me. The make up tank that came with this thing is nice but so impractical. It’s a low iron 10g cube. No lid. Sigh. Still not sure what to do.

I just figured the cables would be tucked away. The boards look great but that’s just my opinion.

Eventually I’ll get them stowed behind the tank. It’s a process I guess? I mean I got everything hooked up to run and now it’s a matter of going over and organizing things.

That particular area (outside the stand)is tough because it’s my one plug for everything.

Shoutout to these Amazon items:

I love zip ties. For the items that need to be more frequently accessed ( especially in the beginning when you’re always changing and rearranging things) Velcro is pretty decent stand in though. Clipping a bunch of zip ties to get to one cable or whatever can get tedious. I used a furniture stapler and stapled the Velcro to the inside of the cabinet (or wherever I wanted to route)

something like this..

Yea I don’t like zip tying much.

I loop extra cord length and secure with the Velcro “tie wrap” and then anchor with the nylon adjustable things. Sorta wish I would’ve seen the colored ones.

Got some of the ideas from my old tank canopy.

Well things are up and running. Installed Tunze 3155 for sump makeup and Tunze 8555 on the fresh water reservoir just installed.

The 8555 is nice but it also uses Tunze’s old brackets to mount the mechanical float switches in the reservoir, just like the ones that used to come with their Streams. Always hated those things so I ordered magnetic mounts from

[emoji1312]Ordered this guy as well, optical level mount which will failsafe the solenoid that fills the reservoir.

Will be managing the wires here, gotta figure out where the trident is gonna land (currently on my wife’s cutting board shown here lol[emoji1427])

The ugly algae showed up recently…diatoms, bit of bryopsis. One of the real drags of starting over is the prospect of getting the normal rounds of problem algae.

Also had a brown algae that was plugging socks like crazy. Slimy stuff. Was a bit scared it was dinos.

Seems to be working itself out. Got some gfo going last week and it help quite a bit.

Sold off some old equipment and picked up a Santa Monica Rain2. Wasn’t my intention to use one but gonna give it a try. Been installed around a month, just seeing a bit of color on the screen.

Finished up with second control board. The Dos is temporary.

I ordered a cuc pack from Addictive Reefkeeping. Always been a fan of the dude as a small business owner. Really let down this time. Seemingly forgot about order till I called and reminded them. It come in rough. Everything (three or four kinds of critters) stuffed in one bag) die off etc.

Conversely I was on IG and saw a few giveaways from SaltwaterAquarium.com entered and won! A CUC pack……wow another cuc pack lol. The cleanest well packaged pack I’ve ever seen. Course they aren’t cheap either but I’m impressed if anyone is in the market. 4872a3e1afef341ad167691e48c154c0.jpg
