I wouldn’t consider myself a hero by any stretch, but it does feel good to hear people are backing us and thankful for our hard work. It has been one heck of a long battle that never seems to end. We were just licking our wounds from the third wave and getting simi back to normal and now here we go again with the Delta variant which we don’t know how well our PPE will stand up to it. I’m not sure about the particle size of this variant. Thanks for all you do.. y'all are heros
I wear a fresh air Helmet with HEPA Filter (best HEPA filter in the world) with a N95 under it and my safety glasses. I sit in a room by myself between rounds and wipe everything down. I only take off my mask if nobody has been in a 20’ radius within 15-20 minutes. I’ve tested negative twice since Delta started and I’ve had at least 40-50 positive patients so far. So I’m hoping the particle size is the same as the first OG variants.
I gotta tell you I’m scared AF every time I have a new patient that is coughing like crazy and I have equipment like a high flow nasal cannula or Bipap that is dumping in the room. We typically have negative pressure rooms going or we scrub the air in the rooms, but not always because the nurses forget to turn the on or the patients complain they can’t hear. We’re all fatigued at this point but I don’t cut corners. Other people do and have gotten away with it, but with this variant I think those people will end up positive.
