I am going with water changes and time. That is about all I have available to me. Been doing 2 or 3 - 20 gallon water changes a day on my 120 since the power came back on. Probably reduce that to 1 a day or less come Monday. After that I am just going to wait a month or so to start rebuilding.
Looks like my LPS and zoanthids are going to pull through. All SPS are dead. I was prepared for a hot time power outage with battery air pumps and fans. Never ever though a winter storm would knock out my power for two days in Houston. Think I will give the tank 6 weeks or so then start...
Looking like a few things may pull through. Been doing 20 gal water changes as fast as I can filter. Yellow tang is still swimming around. As long as he is there I am going to keep water changing. Zoanthids are starting to open back up. Sounds positive.
Tank is toast. All the acros RTNed over night and what is left has the flesh falling off. This is very disheartening. Got to clean out the tank, it is starting to smell. Really not sure I want to set it back up.
First water change done. Things are still there. Corals are sliming, but not as bad as this morning. Temp is back up to 71. Big surprise my yellow tang popped out the rocks and started to swim around. Fingers crossed more fish may still be kicking. Working on filtering water for the second...
I had a space heater blowing under the stand. Got it back up to 70 and rising. Corals look ok so far. Mixing up a batch of water for a change. Tank is real cloudy.
My tank was without power for 36 hours. Had battery powered air stones, but no way to keep the tank warm. Was set up for a warm weather power outage, but not a cold one. All fish are MIA and suspected dead. Corals look rough and trying to warm the tank now since we have power again.
I have seen lots of good results from the mars aqua and similar. If you want more features look to AI, Ecotech and GHL. All of them will grow anything you want but operate a little different. No matter what on you choose you will need more units than they recommend. I use AI Hydra52 on my...
Things are going well. The algae bloom from adding the new rocks has passed. Corals are growing, fish are swimming and clams are happy. Nothing exciting, but all positive.
I do not think there is enough of a difference to matter. If you are talking hydra26 vs XR15, that is. If you think you need more light you could add another 26 for much less than swapping lights all together.
