Well, dropped my new tank and completely broke the bottom panel. Anyone know where I can custom order a replacement 1/2" Glass locally in Houston? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Any Glass shop could order it, but you will pay dearly for it. Plus, trying to reseal a tank is dangerous unless you have it professionally done by a tank manufacturer which will cost out the whaaazooo.

Alternative...

Oh man sorry to hear that...

Your best bet is to replace the tank. I wouldn’t trust a reseal unless done professional and that cost a lot of $$$

Yeah the repair doesnt justify the cost. Ended up just giving it away to the guy that quoted the repair. May just take a break from the hobby

Man that sucks sorry to hear.

Sign up for Bingo! That $600 gift card at City Pets would make a dent in the cost of a new tank.

Thank you! This is exactly what I needed to hear

I know you didn’t want to hear that, but it’s the truth. I dropped a 180/G the first day I got it and just sat their in shock for 30 minutes.

I build a lot of stuff out of glass and most of these companies are now charging by the square inch or square foot I believe which jacked the price up from 8 years ago.

Reseals often are expensive because they will actually redo the whole tank

IMO, unless you live next to Planet Aquariums or another tank builder...you’re better off buying a new tank. Even the builders themselves will probably not do it because the glass needs to be prepped which is a pain in the rear. They like working with fresh clean glass that gets cleaned by a machine. Reseals require a person to physically do the dirty work.

We all know that the guy advertising locally for reseals is a disaster with anything over 40 gallons.

Thank you for all the advise. I already decided not to attempt the rebuilt. Im still hoping that it was a bad dream haha. I actually Sat in the garage just staring at it in disbelief.

I was actually looking into a red sea or waterbox before opting for this used tank set up. If this would of happened to one of those tanks, I wouldn't know how to react.

Really tempted but not sure how I feel about the euro bracing. Hopefully I can get my drive for reefing back. Have fishes still in quarantine waiting on a new home

One thing to consider with euro bracing is that if you don't have Vortech's it will put your wavemaker wires somewhat out in the water column. If you have Nero's it won't be too noticeable.

Other than that....the tank is in stock and you won't have to wait on it to be built.

Email Steve if you have any other questions...he's pretty responsive: support@scaquariums.com

I'm having a custom planet built right now for about $1,440 and it takes time to build and you gotta go pick it up. That was about the cheapest I could get a tank. That's not drilled or anything.

The other tank is drilled for synergy reef overflow, shipped to your door, and has black removable background. $899
