Been lurking here on the MARSH forum since we moved down here from Dallas about 4 years ago. I have had multiple tanks over the last 20+ years. Its been almost 8 since my last one and after a couple of moves, we decided to get another tank. I was originally looking at doing another larger tank but ultimately decided on a rimless 120 for now. The tank will be a mixed reef and i'll be posting here as I get it together.
The tank is a Planet Aquarium, the stand is being built and will be painted the same color as the trim and molding in my house. The stand will be 40 inches tall and will have a compartment on the side with it own door to keep electronics away from the other equipment. I should have the tank and stand delivered in about two weeks. I picked up about 90 pounds of base rock and sand for the tank yesterday. Ill pick up some live rock once I get water in the tank.
The last tank I had in my living room used big reeflo pumps that were loud and generated a lot of heat. I an trying to keep this tank as quiet as possible and not needing chiller so I am using all DC pumps and LEDs Did some on line shopping and got most of the equipment ordered and it should have it here by the end of the week. I will have 3 Kessil A360s for lighting, a reef octopus 202 classic skimmer, eshops sump with a Neptune COR 20 return pump, Apex system and ATO. I also have a lot of misc. things coming needed to get everything going (RODI, test kits etc.)
Its amazing how much equipment has changed since I had my last tank. I did have an Apex on my last tank when they first came out. It looks like they have changed a lot since then but it looks like changes that make things easier.
I do have a CNC router and have built most of my sumps/skimmers/reactors in the past. This time I have purchased the sump and skimmer out of convenience. I am sure at some point I will be building pieces again.
My wife and I are really looking forward to having a tank in the house again.
