ok ok ok. here they are...and even a video too. the tank is a little dirty. i've got some scraping to do as well as a 70 gallon water change in the next few days. but it's looking pretty good imo.

he's been in the tank all of about an hour and he's already eaten some brine that i fed to the tank. i've even seen him grazing some algae on the rocks and sand. the royal gramma doesn't like him since he keeps going over to the gramma's hangout, but i think they'll get over it.

and here's a few random shots of corals:

cool red zoas...called valentine's day massacre on atlantisaquarium.net (also from baa)

my other sailfin just randomly stopped eating. i still don't know why. but i came home one day and it was thin and hiding. it eventually died despite my best efforts to save it. that was when i was in the process of moving and my tank suffered tremendously because of the lack of water changes and proper upkeep. it's hard to drive 60-90 miles daily making several trips back and forth between work, galveston, and baytown getting things moved and setup. by the time i was home for the night i was too tired to do water changes or really keep up with everything.

and yeah, you're more than welcome to stop by. just give me a call or pm me when you want to make a trip.

Did I ever give you one of those red zoas? I know we talked about it when you were over once, but I can't recall if I gave one to you. It's these in the middle.

And regarding the pump, I have that gen-x pump also, but it was too loud for my taste. I bought the eheim 1262, but it's noticeably less powerful.

actually you never did hook me up. i need to come raid your tank anyways.

i've already thought about which pump would be best for that skimmer if i didn't like it, but dang...that things makes some bubbles. i'm really very happy with it.

No, the gen-x is a good match in terms of performance, but I got to make sure the wife doesnt have reason to complain about the tank. ;)

Let me know next time you're headed this way. Or, I'll probably be at the frag swap. Remind me then if it's more convenient.

got the tear drop from baa. we got two in...they sat for a few days and then i got them. i was so surprised that nobody wanted either of them. so, i got the smaller of the two (better looking too!) and have been happy with it ever since.

time for an update...

i have been battling several issues, and all at once. i lost a sailfin tang, my orange shoulder tang, a few zoa frags, and i have a cyano and bryopsis outbreak. the two fish losses were completely random. all my other fish look great, but for some reason those two kicked the bucket. it happens. but i am concerned about the water i was using for my last water change. i was buying water from a local fish store, did a 70 gallon water change, and then it went downhill from there. needless to say, i refuse to get anything from that lfs anymore.

however, i did get a new toy...well ordered one anyways. i finally broke down and sold off some frags and ordered an aquafx mako rodi unit with the chloramine blasters and 100 gpd membrane upgrades. a pretty penny for sure, but i'll have perfect water at my disposal from here on out.

next on my list of upgrades is:
-a pair of ecotech vortechs
-a pair of tunze stream 2 6105's with the new tunze 7096 controller

of course these upgrades will have to come at a later time and spread out over quite a while since they are so $$$. but that's the plan.

Buy a Profilux, it'll control the tunzes for you along with a myriad of other aspects. Pricy, but imo worth every penny.

did you not see the zeovit thread???

but i guess i could update some...

as for equipment since the last update on this page, i've added a vertex 3L zeovit reactor and two ecotech vortechs. the vortechs are on the opposite sides of the tank (one on the left and one on the right) and both are set on reef crest random mode and both are anti-synced...meaning when one is at full blast, the other is at minimum flow. the tunzes are on back order so i won't be getting those for a little while.

anyways, here's some pics:

Oh, I saw that thread. Which Tunze's are you gearing for? I need another pair of something (tunze, ecotech, etc) in my tank. I'm leaning towards used 6100s, as they're considerably cheaper than newer models.

And why havent you offered me frags of this acan. It's killer!

Am I allowed to like the before picture more? the red in the monti is much deeper.
