I got the sump drawn out and after I got my material list together, my local acrylic supplier tells me that he has no cast acrylic, only extruded with no timeline when it will be available again due to the Covid mess. I started trying to find someone to build the sump for me and I keep getting a minimum of 6 weeks build time. I did find finally someone to build what I designed and it should be here in a couple of weeks which is the main thing left for getting this tank up.

I got the 4th Kessil light, the ecotech M2 return pump and the UV light last week. I hung all of the t5 fixtures trying to see how I am going to run the wiring. I have 2 GHL power bars coming just for the canopy to run the lights.

I drew the sump foot print out inside the stand so I could start the plumbing. I did get the manifold made up. The ecotech M2 that is running the 120 tank is what the manifold is connected to, the L2 will be the return pump. The manifold is going to feed the UV and I have 5 other valves that I can use for reactors or what ever.

Got everything in the living room re-arranged and the tank has a spot now. Spent the day washing out all of the sand so that ready to go. I have been playing around with the rock and I think I have a pretty good idea how its going to go. I will get some of the pieces cemented together before it goes in the tank.

I don't know what all those 90 degree turns will do to flow efficiency, but it certainly looks neat and well-thought-out.
I think each 90 is equivalent backpressure to one or two feet of head. I can’t remember the exact number.

What made you go with kessils? Have you used kessils before?

I got some done this weekend. I picked up a frag tank from someone locally and got that in addition to a 20 gallon tank that I use for quarantine to hold the livestock until the new tank is up and running. Iafter I got the water made up, I used the stenner pump I have to exchange water between the frag tank and the 120 to make the acclimation easy.

IMG_0790[3807].jpg

I got the 120 drained and got all of the old equipment out and them got it moved out of the way.

I got the stand and canopy moved of of my office and they are in place now in the living room. I am only waiting on the new sump to get here and then I can finish up the plumbing.

I will start cleaning up all the old equipment and selling off stuff that I wont be using.

Whoa.. that’s going to rock. Glad to hear your alright didn’t lake Jackson took a pretty good hit from that storm?

We didnt get anything from the storm.

I got the GHL re-configured and most of the wiring run in the stand and canopy, at least until the tank is set on the stand and the canopy is put on. I have door switches for the stand lights coming tomorrow and I think thats about it for the stand and canopy until the tank is in place.

I may start on getting my rock figured out in the meantime.

Still waiting on my sump, very frustrating considering it was supposed to be here a couple of weeks ago.

With our contaminated water here in Lake Jackson, I decided to upgrade my RO to a 200GPD so filling the tank wont take near as long. My upgrade included adding 3 canisters for pre-filters, 3 stages of carbon, a Chloramine filter and the 3 stage DI filter with a booster pump. I got that finished up today. Still need to redo my auto water change lines since I moved the Stenner pump to the laundry room but that shouldn't take too long. Our water out of the tap smells like straight chlorine and will burn your eyes just running water in the faucet-ridiculous.

Talk about a clean setup. You have no chance in the next disorganization contest. ;)
Seriously though, very sharp all around.

Jesum Crapes. What all are you planning on dosing? 12 heads? Gorgeous build so far.

Thanks,

Three of the dosing heads are for the KH Director, the remainder are what I was using on the old tank and will use on this one for Reef Moonshine daily dosing.

WOW! Your carpentry skills are very impressive, great job! What are you going to use to seal the inside? What finish are you using on the exterior?

As for transferring your live stock, I think most folks just use giant tubs for a week while they are moving things over. I remember going over to Jonathan's house and he had a giant (like truly massive!) tub in his dining room when he was upgrading his tank. Just plopped the skimmer right in there along with his power heads and heater. You could also try reaching out to one of our local vendors to see if they can fish sit for a while so you can get everything moved out, set up and the new system cycled.

Why don't you just do water changes? It takes all of the guessing, testing, waiting, etc out of the equation. Every time you do a water change it's just like setting the rest buttons on your parameters. I tried the Dutch Reef System for a while and it was just too much work and cost.

Baby steps...the sump is finally here and in the stand. Long story with the sump, not originally what I was wanting but it will work. ADG will be moving the tank this week. Once the tank is in place I can start on the plumbing. I was filling my water storage barrels and the new RO is making about 240 gallons a day so filling it wont take too long.

I had a big problem with access to the skimmer, so I decided to use an external skimmer. This required me to move the UV which required redoing the manifold I had plumbed and redoing the wiring. The old skimmer is out and everything is waiting on the new skimmer under the stand.

ADG came by yesterday and got the tank moved to the stand.
