I have been struggling with the idea of downsizing from my current 210. I want to upgrade the equipment and simplify my life. I am looking for something that will thrive.

I just purchased a used 90 gallon and plan to paint the stand and canopy. I am also going to paint the back glass black. I am going to give it a thorough cleaning. By next weekend it should be like new!

Most of my corals, fish, and equipment will move from the 210 to the 90. Most of the equipment will move over as well. I may eventually move the frag tank onto the same system depending on space.

Without further ado, here is the beginning:

I've had thoughts about doing the same. I like my big tank but the water changes are crazy. Can't wait to see how it goes

Simplify HA!!! You better switch to goldfish. I say plumb it all together!!!
Just get christopher to do it while you sit back and feed the fish and dose some vodka!!:peace: Sorry Christopher!!!

Will you be using the same equipment? Any pictures of the current tank? Speaking of pictures who are you using to post them?

I still have that jewlers rouge if you need it.

That's a good size Chris. Good dimensions, less cleaning, and smaller water changes. A 90 is enough volume to keep swings manageable too. Go for it! I don't skimp on my maintenance but I'm a lazy reefer at heart! Lol. If your sump from your 210 won't fit give me a call. The one in the pic is kinda wimpy. I have a precision marine that might fit. Was keeping it for a big cube tank for an anemome tank but my current tank is enough....

Painted the back black. Now the stand is stripped, sanded, and ready for paint!

I am going to paint the inside of the stand white and the outside gloss black. Eventually I will add lights in the sump. The plumbing will be as simple as it gets. I will probably paint the pvc something cool. Thoughts?

I also picked up a different sump!

Kilz is just a primer I would top coat it. It seals the wood but the primer is not sealed if that makes any sense. It will prevent anything from getting into the wood but the primer begins to soak up lets just say dirt. It makes it harder to clean up an will eventually soak into the wood and discolor it. For easy clean up and more durability I would use a gloss finsh or at least a semi gloss. Anything flat is almost impossible to clean.

We used a black rubberized spray over the kilz.
