Hey everyone, I am considering upgrading my tank from my 90 Gallon to a customer Planet Aquariums 150 (72x24x21). I would like opinions with the items I am considering below...any caveats, are the items worth the price etc.

Tank: 160g Planet Aquarium Custom Tank (Rimless, Starfire on 3 Sides - waiting on quote) w/ Stand
Sump: Trigger Triton 44
Overflow: Ghost Overflow
Skimmer: Custom LifeReef
Lights: 3x Radion X30 Pro Gen4 w/ new diffusers
Power Heads: 2x Vortech MP40QD
Return Pump: Neptune COR2
Controller: Apex System

Thoughts?

I’m curious why are you using an ac powered return pump? For bigger tank or ones with sumps I thought dc powered pump was a must. But I would go with dc pump imo.

My reeflo dart was plenary powerful enough for my 210. Reeflo’s pumps are among many others that are tried and true AC powered return pumps. Don’t get caught up in all the hype of the latest and greatest or the environmentalist drama. Ask Nicola Tesla, AC is where it’s at!

Edit: It all comes down to reliability. Write-Up Wednesday: DC Return Pumps – Mr. Saltwater Tank

Decided to go a different route for the lights and power heads. Placed an order today for a few items!

3x Radeon XR30 Pro
3x RMS Mounting Kit
3x Radeon XR30 Pro Diffuser
Apex Controller System
Apex ATK

I also just got in 2x Ecotech MP40QDs

Figured I will go with the new Neptune COR Return Pump since it comes out soon.

Should have told me you were looking for Radion XR30 G4 pros. I had a buddy selling three for $1500 with mounting kit. Only used for 6 months I believe.

Got the Radions ATX mentioned! Changed the dimensions of the tank a bit, so the display is now 160g roughly.

Decided to go with a custom LifeReef Skimmer to fit in the skimmer chamber of the Triton 44.

Everything has now been ordered!

I just charge the usual finder's fee... I get to do the backstrokes in your reef tank. [emoji41]

Awesome equipment.

Man I'm so hooked on apex neptune stuff. I already bought a calcium reactor but really thinking about getting the DOS unit and I need one more EB832.

Yes for sure. That would be great as long as it performs properly.

I'll get an Apex tattoo if they come up with a QT module, both fish and coral. [emoji1]

So it has been a while since I updated my thread here! Below is all of the new items I have as well as an update to the tank build!

I finally received the new sump, which is the Trigger Triton 44 Sump since I am going to try to utilize the full Triton Method on this build.

I finally placed my order for a customer LifeReef Skimmer in January! I finally received it and it fits perfectly in the skimmer chamber in my new sump.

And last but definitely not least, here is a picture of my tank at Planet Aquarium. The tank has finally been complete and now I am just waiting on the stand before it ships. Just to sum it up, it is a 6ft x 2ft x 21inch starfire rimless tank that will have a ghost overflow!

I am now trying to decide on what rock I want to use. I am strongly leaning towards at least half being from Tampa Bay Saltwater as I have heard great things from both Cody and D2Mini.

My tank should finally arrive this week or next, and I am sure I will need some help moving it into the house! ;)
