Hello!

I am new to this site and to reefing. I met OceansX and a few other members (I didn't get their names, but very nice and helpful reefers!) at FJW the other weekend. They invited me to this site.

Recently, I purchased a used AIO from Craigslist. It's a Fluval 13.5 gallon... that really has 12 gallons excluding the sump area... I noticed a few people on this and other forums have/had one.

While fish are nice, I LOVE looking at beautiful, gorgeous corals. I guess that works out with my small tank, because I will only have two small fish and select soft and LPS corals.

Current stock (with history):
2 trochus snail- purchased 1 week ago
2 porcelain crabs- hitchhikers on the live rock I bought w/ the tank
1 anemone- came on the live rock I purchased w/ the tank... what kind? I have been told a rock anemone, but it doesn't look anything like the pictures I see...
1 GSP frag- a MARSH person convinced me to get a coral last weekend... this fell about midway on my list. I hope it is a good boy.
1 mushroom frag- I don't know what kind. Impulse buy.
1 Ruby Red Dragonet- I know, I KNOW! I am more than happy to explain my poor choice of fish if someone asks...

Past stock:
1 cerith snail; died a few days ago- hitchhiker with live rock I bought with tank

pH is sitting at 8.0 consistently, I would like to raise it
nitrates sitting at 20 consistently, I would like to lower them

I am excited to be reefing!
:eek::eek::eek:

Thank you all for the welcome

Welcome! My Ruby Reds took to meaty foods right off the bat. Easier to get eating than some other dragonet species IMHE.

Mine kind of did too... Apparently it ate frozen at the LFS. When I got it home, I got it to eat some mysis. But then, I gave it some tigger pods (I think he ate some, hopefully many because they were expensive-- that's a completely different story) and Nutramar. Now he won't touch mysis :( I have some pods coming from Algae Barn and I am hoping to grow them on my own. So, he will have a diet of pods and Nutramar.

I stand corrected. He ate mysis tonight! I just got him, so he is adjusting, and so am I. He seems to be doing well thus far. I hope he is in it for the long haul =)

Welcome! And yes I do remember you, because I remember who showed me their weird anemone.

Hey welcome! I got a little Fluval 13.5 as well! Great little tank but you definitely gotta keep up with topping off and water changes. Mines definitely getting overrun while I'm setting up my RSR 350 but it's a beautiful little tank to stare at..

You have a Fluval, too? I have see a few people here that have them. Do you have pics?

Thanks for the welcome.

Oh and do you have fish? If so, what kind? I had a fish, but it died. I'm so upset.

Its definitely a little crowded in the tank but I upgraded and got a RSR 350! What kind of fish was it? I had a damsel in there and it did amazingly well (but I wouldn't recommend ever getting one, they're so aggressive) and I also got a pair of clowns but they got ich and died during Harvey :( After that, I hunted for the perfect pair of clowns and sooner than expected, the perfect pair fell into my arms. They were the only fishes in the tank for a while until Oceanlife brought in an amazing looking leopard wrasse and I had to get her. She's in the tank with the clowns and tbh its a little too cramped for them so I'm setting up the RSR asap!

My fish was a Ruby Red Dragonet. He was beautiful. Sorry about your clowns :frown: I'm happy I didn't have a tank during Harvey. How horrible for everyone. Good luck with your new tank. I'm sure it's amazing! (That's a BIG upgrade!!)
