I was gifted a very nice tank. It came with a Geismann light fixture. Unfortunately the gift did not include a chiller. For this reason I am looking to switch over to LEDs. Possibly Kessils?

The tank is a system 70 Elos 55 gallon square tank. What would/should I be looking for when purchasing LEDs. I would like 2 pendants but dont know how much power I would need. If anyone has any ideas that would be much appreciated.

Giessman make very, very good light fixtures! For the price of two good led pendants (lets take radio's as an example) you could pick up a chiller. That's not to say leds can't be cheaper, I'm sure there'll be a few people who will recommend the reefbreeder fixtures. If it where me though I'd look at saving hundreds by not switching lights and looking into some fans to assist in cooling the tank. My tank is very heavily lit and yet it only took a 10 dollar fan to get my temps in check.
Now it you're dead set on leds, like I said, radions are the obvious answer and reefbreeders come a well recommended second.
I'm sure there are others who can give much better advice on leds so....over to them :)

Thank you for the information. I looked into some fans to see if they will cool the water down enough. I will give them a try and also raise the light fixture higher above the tank. This weekend is when all the setup will go down so I will take a visit to walmart and get some temp readings. thank you again for saving me a lot of money.

Be careful with the fans, from my own experience, when using fans, they didn't cool enough to make a difference. Only thing they did was make water evap faster, causing my salinity to fluctuate a lot.. Just keep ac up. and when lights off, turn ac down...
