I hope we get a lot of sargassum this year... hoping to find some cool shrimp because it sucks for me that I lost my cleaner shrimp in a few hours because I didn’t realize my ammonia levels were too high for the little thing[emoji24]

I wish we would get a huge pile of sargassum!!

Sorry to hear about your shrimp. But you have to make sure everything is cycled. If you throw stuff in there and it is not ready it will just make it a lot harder and your tank will not be stable.

Instant gratification is for the devil!!

Yea I know the tank has to be cycled, but the tank I put him in has been running for 3 months so I thought it would be fine and I drip acclimated for 2 hours but i just keep on learning maybe next time I’ll have better luck. And yes I hope for some sargassum, only thing I’ve gotten from it is that spider crab so maybe this year I can find more things.[emoji106]

Well I have been doing my sargassum dance for about three years now and I am ready to say it doesn't work!!

We got a little last year.... I got a few fish mainly juvinile pipefish but not very many i think all year i caught about 9 and like i said they were tiny.

The mud on the bay side is looking good so hopefully the shoal grass will take root again when the water warms up. I only caught one pipefish back there last year after it all died last winter. Usually i would get one a day when the grass was still live.

Anyway enough rambling.... The water is going to be way out tommorow and i have to flipping work. I am going to try and go tomorrow night, but I think it is a long shot. I got a new phone so i will take alot of pictures!!

Happy colecting and post some pictures of your local aquatic friends!!

These sheepshead minnows get so fat on the algae sheets. It’s the thing they’ll eat the most along with my bicolor Blenny. The pistol shrimp hides in that cave along with the macro that he pushed into there. So far everything has been doing very well. I will keep updates on them[emoji106]

I see his colors are coming back in... His head will turn metallic blue and his fins orange to red. Looking good

My favorite part about them is the way they bury them selves at night only poking their head out

Working on it already... It is illegal to sell, trade, or barter without the proper license!!! You have to have a commercial fisherman license.

That’s really good, where do you plan on selling them? It just sucks when people don’t have experience in fish keeping and don’t package them properly if they ship them. You could really make a good amount of extra cash doing that Chris by maybe also selling peppermints, nems, sergeant majors etc and things that you find in sargassum.

Just locally at first right now I could fill 1000 piece order a month on justs peps. at 5 bucks a piece. The thing is.... tpwd do not have a collectors license so you would need a shrimp license which is limited to only a few for the state of Texas and a finfish license which is also limited. So unless i find someone with a license that will let me work under it or i find someone willing to sell. I am going to keep working with the state to figure out a way!!
