What do you want to do? Beside collecting? It is usually at someones house down here on the water? We collect a little on the bayside and hang out. Maybe go to the jetties on the beach at night. They have food and door prizes raffles so on so forth. We didn't do it last year we couldn't get a venue. I am remodeling my rental right now and should be done around that time.... Maybe we could do it here I don't know. I will start thinking about it and see what I can do.

Sounds good except.... I am going out of town next weekend. It should be a killer night if it is not too cold. The tide is dropping almost 1.5ft under low low tide. Which means the water should be almost to the end of the jetty.

@Reefahholic congrates on the baby girl!!!

We should do a marsh collection event for when it gets warm!?! Any taker?

Yeah, that would be cool. That’s one event I’ll definitely make. 😀

We should rent out a place for Saturday night. Hang at the cabin, go eat, go collect, and we could do the beach and bay side. Then go home at the end of the night. I like sleeping in my own bed, but if you wanted to stay...there’s some cheap hotels. As soon as it warms up, the prices double.

IMO, the bayside doesn’t really offer what I look for. Other folks may like it though. It’s definitely interesting if you’ve never been. I still enjoy looking around.

I have a few good spots that are the best of both worlds. Best to go at night. That’s when you just never know what you’ll catch. It’s the thrill of the search that keeps drawing me back.

That sounds like a great idea. Getting me really excited... I’ve been wanting to try to collect on the bayside but never have because I don’t know any good spots but Chris knows where the good stuff is there. Only place I’ve tried is the dike but only got some porcelain crabs and a really big blenny. I know there’s more stuff out there but I never had the time to search out for more But this plan sounds nice and hopefully it will happen. Would this be for summer?

From what I remember it was a crested Blenny and it was about 5 and half inches long... biggest blenny I ever caught. I caught him in this one spot on the left side of the dike on a small dock where people crab and fish. I had put my crab net in the water with a chicken leg in it and when I pulled it up instead of a crab I got a blenny. I noticed that at the beginning of the dock there were rocks on each side in the water where they were all hanging out and I tried to catch more but couldn’t because the water wasn’t clear enough. That day I had also caught a sheepshead minnow and some ghost shrimp in that same spot. And I’m sure those blennies live there because from the 3 times I’ve been there, they would always be in that spot. I will go back this summer and see what else I can find

Thats what I am saying.... Why don't we setup an event and maybe marsh will tag along. I will start working on things and see what I can get done. I would like to do it around june- July so maybe we can put all the diversity in place. Sargassum, beach , jetty, bay, etc.

Maybe do a collection completion.... Biggest, smallest, most catch in one net. Maybe a scavenge hunt at the local fish stores before you come down or an island hunt.

I think this summer I’m going to hit up the south packery jetty and and the packery in Corpus Christi to see what there is to catch over there. Y’all think it’s a good idea?

I’ve been watching videos of snorkeling in corpus and there seems to be a good amount of variety there maybe some different stuff than here and especially with that clear water. Hope to go this summer

I can attest to the diversity @ Corpus Christi. My wife and I go fishing there 5-6 times per year and we always max out our coolers.

Whitings, croakers, sand trout, spotted trout, sheepshead, mackerel, etc.

Our first trip each year is normally spring break, but usually the water is still cold.
