Ya that is too bad. Good thing no body got electrocuted. I have no idea why but I just thought I would look up Spanish American war. For interest sake... I did not realize that Texas was part of Mexico just 200 years ago. I also did not realize that at 250 years ago Mexico went up to the what is now Canadian border and included the western half of today's USA. It all makes sense I guess.

This not real. It’s just content. The conversation with the wife is fake. If it were real, she wouldn’t even be willing to recreate it because she’d be too upset that all the floors in the house were ruined for his stupid hobby. However, if he stood to make a few bucks off of a production that never happened then she’s in.

Tank seams with silicone don’t straight up break clean and perfect with no residue on the glass. Ever tried to clean silicone off of glass? Without a straight razor, and a lot of time and effort, you’ll never get the glass that clean. Straight up just a video created for content.

It’s real man…obviously they recreated the dialogue for the video. Probably went pretty close to that. Except for “I’m at the fish store buying fish food…be home as soon as I can.” 😅

sand looked kinda too clean. that much separation along the front panel makes me think it woulda blown out. the phone call re-enactment seems dumb. Shut up. If my wife called me saying the tank was leaking, I woulda been dropping f-bombs. Shut up

also them using a container to scrap the sand across the glass made me cringe a lil

Go watch his videos from the start. He’s completely into it and that was his dream tank. There’s no way he would put a tank manufacturer on blast for no reason. You can clearly go back and look at who made the tank.

The glass wasn’t prepped enough. The tank pulled apart at the top because it’s a rimless and the bottom panel kept it from going at the bottom. The silicone bead was so large. Probably the largest I’ve ever seen. Everybody in the tank building forum will tell you that having too large a seam with significantly weaken the bond. Having a seam too thin will do the same. That’s not even getting into cure times and proper adhesives for tank building.

My guess is that a rookie tank builder within their company likely made a big mistake.

That YouTuber only has 2.33K subscribers now. Probably 1800 at that time. No way that was fake because he wouldn’t make any money. Would be pointless. I have more subs than that and I don’t make a dime. The phone call was a reenactment of the real thing for YouTube.

To make money on YouTube you really need more than 50K subs. 100K would be much better. YouTubers don’t make near as much as they used to. It’s really a pointless gig because you have to go big or just do it for fun like me. Otherwise you’ll stress yourself out trying to constantly edit, create content, and buy better equipment and lighting.

Yeah once silicone separates perfectly clean from the glass via a razor, it takes very little pressure to pull up the rest of the seam. It would have blown out completely.

Go look at his videos from the start. They are all good and it’s obvious the poor guy really loved that aquarium. They spent 6 hrs trying to build a control board. Then he trashed it because it wasn’t perfect. Hooked up with a guy who had a CNC and built a beauty. He is a newbie reefer and went head first into it.

Let me ask you this…what incentive would he have to fake it. It’s not like the reefing community is massive and he’s gonna get a million views on that one video or gain 50K subs from it. No reason to flood his equipment, stand, house, etc.

I don't think he flooded his equipment. The loss porn would get a lot of clicks, but there isn't any. It's a shop vac sucking up about 50 ml of water from a corner of the bottom of his stand. Who wouldn't have an emotional reaction to an Apex held up while water drips out of it? What does he gain? Well, monetized views, which is what he got by you reposting the video.

Ok, so let’s say he lied and made $50 for his 10K views. Lol. Super Impressive! 😅

So he destroyed a $2,000 aquarium for $50 in views? Not buying it.

YOUTUBE $$ paid per views:

The answer to this varies according to the geography of the viewers. Firstly, YouTube doesn't pay you per 10,000 views, instead, they pay you whenever an ad is displayed on your video.

Since I'm a YouTuber, I can tell you the average amount you can get for 10,000 views!

If your views are from Egypt, Indonesia, or other small countries, then you may earn around $1–1.5/1,000 views (approx 65 INR), and if your views are from US/UK, then you might earn around $5–5.5/1,000 views(approx 320 INR).

That means for 15,000 views, you can earn from $15–22.5 to $75–82.5 ! Hope my answer helps.

I don't think he destroyed his tank on purpose, more likely it was a small leak. then he dramatised it for attention. So the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. The seam can pull away clean if the other piece of glass never had a good seal.

sucks that the tank didn't last one month before it leaked.

I think it was a bad prep job coupled with a huge seam and probably insufficient dry time.

If you build a tank the prep is crucial. Those seams need to be cleaned with acetone and steel wool. They need to be squeaky clean.

Seams should be about 1-1.5mm | about (1/16”) NOT 3/16”

I don’t know that seam might be 1/4”. 😂
