Work has me flying through the Ciudad del Carmen (not Playa del Carmen). I hope to have a few days between work to snorkel or dive there. I haven't looked into any details yet.

Any of the members have any recommendations of snorkel or dive operators, locations, etc.

Thanks in advance,

Sharath

I was going to recommend looking through tripadvisor, but when I looked they only had one attraction mentioned. Looks like a pretty small place, your options may be obvious when you get there (but limited).

You're right Jeff- not much to do around here. I didn't have much time to look into the area before heading out. I thought I could do it while I was onsite, but satellite internet is too slow and restricted.

From the surface, it looks like there's tons of sardines and other fish here, but the water doesn't look that clear for coral cover and diving. And yes, I am spoiled from diving in SE asia. What was the one attraction listed on Tripadvisor? If it's the Mega mart, check did that ;)

I'm going back through Villahermosa. I'll have a few hours. Anyone have any suggestions about there? I'm going to see if I can access Tripadvisor.

So Oceansx. Did you manage to get any pics you can post up? I was just going to ask here if anyone had any dives with pics of corals in the wild. I'd love to see what the marsh members have had the opportunity to see first hand .
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO FOR US. KEEP IT UP.

I was busy getting ready for this trip that I was on location or on the way there before I could research the area well, so I asked the members if they had any recommendations. Unfortunately, this way a more industrialized part of Mexico, and the waters offshore were not suited to recreationally diving.

Also, I don't have any dive photos, just some poor quality, snorkeling, disposal camera pics :(

I can only vouch for places in belize and the virgin Islands. I have photos and videos that I need to get posted.

Why have you not done it ....we can't wait to see this. It's a dream of mine but I'd be too afraid a moray eel would come out and bite off a finger trying to nab a coral . ...frag.

Ha ha I did have a large tarpon swim up in a cove with me. We were about the same size lol. Really scary when you start seeing things at +150 lbs size.

Its awesome seeing fish in the wild. I have swam with a sea turtle and stingray in the virgin islands. Seen a trigger fish and box fish off the coast of cozumel. Snorkel the second largest barrier reef off the coast of belize. Wrestled in a +350lb blue marlin 3 miles out from puerto rico. Life has been good the past 2 years.
