I'm looking to get into diving. I stopped by the dive shop in the woodlands and they were really nice and informative. I was wondering if someone wanted to talk shop for a little while. I still have quite a few questions. I know the stores try to help as much as possible but I also know that they're trying to sell you stuff.

~50 dives, most in S.E. Asia. If you call me, you're going to be doing some Reef Currents work :)

Haha ok I'll call you. The only problem is that I'm commited to a wedding that weekend. I'm not exactly pumped about missing reef currents.

Do join one of the many diving forums, they give you perfect advice.
I need to look up which one I was part of, and no selling tactics on there.
Kinda miss my diving too, I used to be a Pro diver for the Fire Department in Amsterdam and everyday I was on duty we had a run for a dive with all these Canals in and around Amsterdam.
Have been diving around the world when I was traveling, lost count by 100
My Padi ( Professional Association of Diving Instructors) is expired since 2005 as I couldn't do the recourse of it due too two hip replacements and a major back surgery.
I prefer to dive in front of my tank for the last 10 years

Thanks for the heads up. I was looking for a local forum but google searches weren't showing any.

I'm a diver. Just completed the certs/dives for Master Diver rating last year. I've done classes with Maximum Scuba and Sea Sports Scuba in The Woodlands. Both are fine. I did most of my specialties at the shop in the Woodlands because it's close to me and I really like some of the people there. It really comes down to the specific instructor. Go with one you like and feel comfortable with. That is the most important criteria by far!

Yeah they seemed friendly in the woodlands and its definitely closer to home. I decided to hold off on diving for now. I dont plan on going on vacation for a while so it would be frustrating to get the certification and only have one or two local places to practice in freshwater. I wanna see the reefs!

I'll be going to the Philippines and the Great Barrier Reef at the end of May to scuba dive with the wife this year.

You can always get in my pool or pond Cody. If you get in trouble you will be able to make it to shore
Yeah I still haven't gone scuba diving to this day. I need to fix that.

I got certified last April. I have done 15 dives. The reefs are awesome in Cozumel and Turks and Caicos.

Got certified and did my first dive on my honeymoon in Hawaii 30 years ago. 300+ dives, all over the Caribbean (Aruba, grand cayman, Cozumel, Belize, etc), Florida, Thailand, Phuket, the Red Sea, Hawaii... my kids got certified at Google Maps (Sugar Land Dive Center) and the guy’s name is Phil, he runs the shop with his wife. Really nice people. Did a great job too, my kids are excellent divers!

I still haven't been certified. Life got distracting and I just never got it done.
