Kenny at Aquatic Center sells it. I didn't buy it yet until I get an opinion from somebody who has used it. The label says it's safe for inverts and corals....mmmmm... Has anyone tried using this?

I used it a few months ago. Actually I bought it from Kenny at Aquatic center. :D

Anyway, my bubble corals didn't seem to care much for it. They shrank down and didn't fully inflate most of the time I was dosing the tank. It took them about a week or week and a half to fully inflate once I was done, but they did come back fine. That was the only thing I noticed. It did do the job, and I haven't seen any ich on my fish since.

I forgot to mention that my octopus wasn't affected in the least, so I'd vote that it is in fact save for inverts, since they're pretty picky critters when it comes to water quality.

At the fish disease forum on RC the true experts in fish disease treatment believe that it is snake oil and that the only way to treat ich is in a QT tank with copper or hypo-salinity.

I used it about five months ago, but did not act quickly when I saw ick on my fish... like an idiot, I waited at least a week or more to see if it would go away on its own and it really stressed out my fish and brought them to the brink of death before the medicine kicked in.

Had I begun the regimented dosing of the tank with Kick Ick the minute I detected the problem, I think I would have saved all my fish.

My hammerhead retracted and lost all its color. I thought I was going to lose it because it was white as a ghost... but it came back after running some carbon and doing a two 10% water changes a month apart.

I may be the only one on this forum who believes in this stuff, but I've thought that when I have an extra $30 I'm going to buy a big bottle of it just in case I have another outbreak so I can start treatment immediately upon seeing I've got it again.

Makes me sad to think of losing those fish to Ick... had a maroon clown die that I'd had for six years. That fish acted like a golden retreiver with gills.

tcarlson,

I too read the boards and it seems like 50/50... Some had sucess and others didn't. I'm glad everybody on this thread has had positive results.

I lost my white-face tang and my yellow angel. But I was able to treat my blue tang, and sailfin w/ freshwater dips and a small dose of copper.

I use a home-made trap to catch all the fish... when i get a chance I'll take a pic...works like a lobster trap.

Use it w/ success too

I have used Kick Ich a few times in my reef, and always try to keep a bottle around just in case. I have all kinds of inverts, and this is the only thing that I can safely add without doing major disruption to the tank. I don't have a hospital tank, nor can I remove everything out to treat. I have never lost a fish to ick, and the tank will be 3 yrs. old on Feb. 13th. Some may call Kick Ich a snake oil - whatever. But I won't go without having a bottle around, esp. with a Regal Tang that I have. The corals or inverts never have probs. w/ the Kick Ich, either. You need to remove your carbon, follow the directions carefully, and if you need to dose for 2 weeks, then do it. Also, depending on the size of your tank, you might need more than 1 bottle. I'd rather spend $20-30 on this than losing my $20-50+ fishes one by one.... 8O

I used Kick-Ich in my 135g (after I bought a sick Purple Tang, and didn't (STOOPID ME) Quarantine him first....). Had to treat for 3 full weeks (that's about 4 liters if you want a water volume / med / time measurement) but almost 2 months later and not a spot is to be seen ('cept the ones that are SUPPOSED to be on the fish).....

I would highly recommend it (in fact, JUST IN CASE, I've got an extra 2-liter sitting under my stand. The useable shelf life is about 2 years)

I also had a purple tang and a niger trigger that had ich. I waited too long though before using the product I think but it did work. Both of these fish lived. However, it destroyed my lawmower blenny and a psuedo within 2 days and they didn't even seem sick before apply the medicene. I then had another wrasse die within 10 days. Therefore, put me down at 50-50. It saved the fish I was trying to save but I lost some other ones.

Everyone's fine now though so I guess I would use it again. I have a fish only tank though so I can't comment on any frags.
