So it keep getting thisbbavterial film in my sump. There is not much water movement in my return section and this is where is accumulating.

Looks like snot which i periodically scoop out. I dont dose anything. Just water changes.

Along with this, I have this green mat algea or cyano? That is also growing in the DT. Just changed out all my LR with rocks that I was curing for a few months, but the green stuff is still there on some small pieces that remained.

Never encountered this before. How do I get rid of it?

Here a picture of the green stuff around the rock anemone. Its like a green mat that I can blow right off with a turkey baster or suck out with a siphon. It very much like cyano.

Phisphates at 0.25 ppm having a hard time bringing them down since adding new rock, but steadily dropping over the lastbtwo weeks.

Nitrates between 5 and 10 ppm.

Ph7.95 - 8.08

T 77

Sg 1.026 steady (refractometer)

Feeding IO marine chips, spectrum pellets, rods food, nori

The green stuff is Cyano. The snot is dinoflagellates. Both are forms of algae and usually caused by higher than normal nutrients. The dino also happens a lot in new tanks. You didn't mention the age of your tank but the new rock could have triggered it if you didn't have it already. Find some ways to get the PO4 down for starters. Start with some big water changes and syphon out as much as you can. They cyano is pretty easy to get rid of, the dino is a lot more work.

Age is about two years. The green cyano started around the beginning of 2016 and by November had gotten so bad that even after weekly large water changes and siphoning it would be back in 4 to 5 days covering all the rock. :frusty: So I don't think water changes are helping much and yes I have checked the rodi and fresh saltwater for phosphates and found 0.0 (salifert and API, hanna says lo light so it a goner). I have had red cyano before which I got rid off easily, but this stuff is hardy.

Since I changed the rock , the snot production has gone down quite a bit. Did a bit of reading on dinos. I have never seen brown slime though it is totally clear.

I have an unused biopellet reactor which I can use to start GFO, and GAC in it instead. I also have some phosphate sponge which I got recently (to quickly bring phosphates down) it did help a bit 0.5 to 0.4 ppm, so I can stick a filter bag with that too.

I did a water change Saturday and found the snot and green starting in the outside filters.....ug. My tank is new and it usually goes through this on start up. I will fight it for another 4 months and then it will go away. In the mean time I use NOPOX to keep it at bay. I also change my filters more often. More but smaller water changes. GAC, and GFO of course. I also ordered a bottle of the new stuff everyone keeps raving about (mind boner). I want to see how it does on the new tank crud. NOPOX works but I do find that it can whiten up everything in the tank. Methanol is some pretty harsh stuff and I notice my fish like to scratch on the rocks when I use it. That can't be good. Anyway. I also have semi clear plastic outside on the filters. They get more light than they need. I need to paint them black. So have you had any luck this last week in getting rid of it, adahm?
