So i made my second batch of alkalinity with baking soda...

Mixed and shooked it up pretty well but I guess not since I have a layer of baking soda on the bottom of the container....

Last time I just used room temp rodi water and didn't have this clump but have it this time..

Is that something to worry about??

Should I boil my rodi water and then add the baking soda to make it easier to dissolve?

TIA

Heating the water should help more baking soda go into solution.

I use baking soda(unbaked), mixed with RODI. Mixes clear every time, never any precipitation. Great alk supplement for me. Don't add too much if your PH is on the low side, it will drive it down a little temporarily.

my ph stays around 8.2-8.3 with the unbaked baking soda...

yeh my first time making the batch it was clear...just this time it wasnt and theres a good amount on the bottom..

guess it doesnt matter cause i tested my alk last night and it was spot on.

Hi, madehtsobi.
I always had a problem getting the baked soda to dissolve completely. What a PIA. The way I solved it was to use only half the amount of baked baking soda that the recipe called for. No more solution problems. Downside is that you have to use twice as much of the solution as the calculators call for. For example, if the calculator says you need 8 ounces of solution, then you need to add 16 ounces.

That works for me.
Good luck,
Steve
