Damsels are fun. I bought three of the yellow tails back around 2009 or 2010. I wound up with a male and two females, but the male died after a few years. I like to think he died of exhaustion, because the females took turns spawning so he almost always had a batch of eggs to guard. The two females are still doing great and showing no signs of getting old.

That's awsome. I'm excited to see how this tank matures. Very active little fish and the splash of yellow makes it fun to watch as the lights dim each night.

Not quite a year since last Post. Things are coming along nicely. I jumped the gun with par to high to quick and still fighting algae for doing so. But hey, damsels pick at it and i like the natural look. It's not hurting anything and i pick a handful out once a week and feed to my cichlids. With everything being open the ph rides at 8 so no explosive growth. BUT PPus is with the flow cranked up from the 2 mp-10s. The entrusting is awsome. I've since added a little bubble magus protien skimmer and some more media to the sump. Cleaned up all the wires and made my own little controller box. I'd say goal achieved of showing off everything most tend to hide. I don't have much company but when folks have visited, the conversation turns toward, "what is all this stuff down here, and what are all these flashing lights for". 20240121_132341.jpg 20240121_132349.jpg 20240121_132352.jpg

The damsels have also dwindled down..all the yellow bellies are gone. Gave some away, rest died off. Down to the 3 velvets and 3 yellow tails. I've thought of adding more but with territories established, I'm thinking it's a no. Time will tell.
