Any of you have batter backup for your television?

I got an issue with my Samsung TV. When there is a power surge or if I unplug it - the TV has no power for hours until it reset (sometimes up to 6 hours). I called Samsung and the technician scanned the TV (it's a 4k tv) and could not find anything wrong.

I'm thinking about adding a battery backup so I get no power interruptions - only issues is batter backups are big and ugly. TV is on the wall and no shelves below it.

I only run surge protectors.

how did you run power to the back of the tv? Did you make a whole new power outlet for it? You can probably ghetto rig a smallish ups on the back where the tv mounts.

Yeah have a power outlet behind the tv - the router and some other small equipment rigged behind the tv hidden.

I like your idea - find a small to medium size battery backup and rig it behind the tv with some brackets or something. TV is 85" so I got enough space.

That's such a weird bug! My last few tvs (including the current 4k one) have been Samsungs and they didn't have trouble with power events. Any chance that you can get them (or the store) to replace it as defective?

i would think that even if you have a battery backup, the TV is still going to shut off when it looses its initial power source.. leaving you in the same boat.

It sure is. I was not home when the Samsung technician came so I didn't get a chance to explain my issue - he just scanned the tv and it showed no error codes...including the power supply board.

You could be right but I have no other choice but to try it.

New season of Ozark is starting in a few days got to have a working TV. Funny thing I have only one TV. :pop2:

No, it won't lose power because the electricity runs through the UPS/battery... It switches automatically and does not interrupt the power (hence the name Uninterruptable Power Supply)..

I’m rewatching the first two seasons then the third for the first time. I watched seasons one and two when they first came out but that was years ago. I forgot how good this show is!

Check on the back of the tv. The 4K Samsung TVs have a little panel near the power chord plug that you can pop off. Under there is a little handle. Grab it and start pulling on it. They installed a pull start on all their TVs in case they don’t start up right away :p:cool:

The show is insane - my second favorite show after Breaking Bad.

LMAO!

Yeah I was hoping there is some kind of reset button on the darn TV. I found a power button sort of hidden to the side of the TV but no luck.

It has some very clear parallels to Break Bad, but it’s different enough to be original. Very good show. I’m going to finish season two tonight!

Common on Samsungs.... had 4 do the samething... its the capacitor swelled up on the main board. Kinda like the outside A/C unit that has a bad capacitor that won't turn on.

The Samsung Smart tv I got is the fav tv I have ever had. Samsung LG. Sony. They are the only good tvs. Rest are junk from my experiences with tvs. Sorry to hear you are having trouble with yours and your power source.

Oh wow so one day it won't power at all?

I agree with you on that. My buddy bought a Sony big screen and after 1.5 year it was dead. There is definitely a resolution difference between Sony and Samsung and some people swear on Sony having a better resolution. I like the bright Samsung resolution...it's all preference.

Ok then just lg and Samsung. Apparently you can not go by what the picture is showing at the store to compare. It is all a scam unfortunately. I once had a sales rep recommend a name brand. 65 inch...not Samsung LG or Sony.. In 1.5 years it was toast but it was still under warranty and got my money back EVentually. In my opinion the picture I saw at the store was not the picture I got when I brought it home. It was from a world wide chain department store.

I don't know ive been lucky or not but i've only had one tv go out on me early. I'm rocking a LG right now for the past 3 years and its been solid. Been wanting to get a new tv but imma wait for that new quantum oled to come out.

For high end tvs, ony generally has the best picture processing. LG has the best picture quality panels if you're not in a bright room. Samsung does good a bright room.

If it is a swollen/dyeing cap like BigRick says, few cents for the part to fix it. Hard part is taking the thing apart and doing the swap. I would not bother till the tv fully dies since there is always a risk of breaking it more taking it apart to swap out a cap.
